Default RB WSII questions

After running electric 1/10 buggies, I bought my new car and engine a few years back (mbx4rr) and only used it about 5 times. I had the LHS break it in for me, and I don't really know what method they used. I then run the car a few times (about 6-8 tanks) just bashing around.

My question is, is that engine outdated or are parts still available for it. Also, I am assuming that it is still competitive, and how much different is it from the newer WSIII version. Can I swap parts if need be.

Also, is there any way to re-break in the engine properly (since I don't know how it was done before) or do I just take it apart and check conrod and such and see how it is doing and continue running it.

Any help would be helpful as I'm getting back into the hobby and trying to research as much as possible to catch up. Also, I am going to start racing locally, so I want to do it right but just for fun, as I don't have an dreams of being a pro or regional champion.

So far I know the WS3 parts can be used in a WS2. This is spoken a lot of times on the forums of www.rbproducts.com
The quality of an answer comes with the quality of the question.
