Once it broke in fully I have it coming off the track at around 245F after a long main. I have run it semi-lean up to 265F confidently in a main as well (when I needed to play catch up).

Keep in mind that not all temp guns read the same though. With my buddies trusty Exogen reading 245F, I've had other temp guns reading it anywhere from 265F to 225F at the same time (including another Exogen).

It must have been user error, a failed seal, or some freak mishap/on-track incident. The SL3, and its close re-branded cousins, have been extremely reliable with consistent power. The only times I've had trouble is when an air leak popped up at the manifold or pipe connection. They'll run hot, slower and have a terrible idle with even the slightest air leak.

Does anyone know if the head button from an LS3, or any other motor from the same *family*, will work on and SL3?

Not sure what engines they're used in, but if you download Max Power Catalog and look in Spare Parts section for .12 engine (page 2), you'll notice all their part numbers match novarossi's except they have "MX" in front of it...

Edit: #28607 head button is used in 12LS3 engine...
