Any photos of the carnage?
I am satisfied with the performance of the engine for the $, but no way is it the fastest .21 on the market. I will post a picture of the damage later tonight.

Too bad to hear this. As an extra precaution I've changed the conrod after the break-in finished (7 litres - about 1.5gallons). Conrod gets very pounded during break-in. Being old-schooled about this got me good results, and a conrod is cheaper than a brand new engine. Sorry to hear this.

P.S: The engine feels 'soft' but laptimes go easy at least for me. Would like a little more of mid-rpms (more wake...) Need to try to mess with it.

Default Ninja RO1 Update

We have been testing the RO1 every weekend, and this weekend we made some
substantial improvements. We used 16-19 pinions on the Evolva. This definitely made the midrange better. There was no midrange lack of power with this gearing. We also used the new Swauger hard spring. This combo worked extremely well for us this weekend. Temperatures were about 250 after a hard 5 minute run. Still not +35 power, but it is making excellent power.

Corse R, I got busy and forgot to post the pic. Will do it tonight.

Hey Uriah,

can you give me the skinny on what's special about the Plus 12-3 except the ceramic bearing.

By the data, this engine should be similar to the N12LL3. I see a large exhaust port in the pictures, but other wise it looks like any other NR.

Is it special? If so, in which way and is it worth to get one?

Thanks buddy.

Hi Stefan. The engine is similar to the N12LL3, in fact the crankshafts are interchangeable. The main difference is the piston. It is hemispherical and super lightweight. They say it is Microcast, but the bottom has been milled so you can not see the casting marks like in other MCP engines. The USA version comes with a turbo scoop already in the crank (not EFRA legal). The engine is a screamer. It out accelerates the LL3. The exhaust port is also better in the +3. Overall I think this is a great engine from Novarossi.

Iceman got a meltdown many time ago, time for a category switch... how about to DTM?

BTW: I'm anxious to see the finish of the soccer comp (sheeeesh! each 4 years the same torture...). At least this weekend got a great dose of racing seeing LeMans.

Yeah seems like Kimi can't get an even break. Maybe next year in a Ferrarri... and LeMans is starteing to get as prdictable as NASCAR...Fox TV ruined it.

Hi Grinder,

I bought a Sirio Evo 3 STI and just broke it in. Do I have to replace the conrod right away?

Dave

No need to change right after break in. I usually wait until the first 2 gallons, then change it. If you run the engine hard it is recommended to change the rod each gallon to be safe. I have been running a modified Evo 3 STI for a couple of gallons very hard, with no rod or crankshaft failures.

Grinder have you had a chance to test out the crf yet? i just got one and was running your LL3 against it but the track was too small to really give it a run. I am impressed with the CRF! Loads of torque and very high revs

Cheers
