From what I heard the evo4 was designed for 7 minute racing where they have a compulsory pit stop in qualifying, so the engine has more power but is alot thirstier as a consequence, think the guys in uk were still using the evo3

The sleeve timing is slightly different the the EVO3 also the case volume changed. They built the engine to give a better mid to top speed without losing bottom end power the engine was known for. Fuel use is hard to say because the finger on the throttle determines fuel consumption as well as clutch and all the other variables. Picco has not released a 9 port for the fuel consumption reasons. There are also 2 versions of the EVO4 other then the newest that has the short heatsink and combustion chamber combo.

The fuel consumption is listed above the issue with answering the "power Band" question you are asking is that the pipe makes the difference where and when the engine hits. The power band generically stated is slightly higher on the 4 then the 3. That would be all I would speak until I knew what pipe you are running. The engines 3 or 4 do not run like a Nova. The Nova's for the most are mid to top with little on the bottom compared to the Picco. The Picco is more Mid bottom with the pipe changing the Top dramatically. And again fuel consumption depends on the pipe. The more top you get out of the engine the more fuel it is going to burn. That is why 9 ports show slightly higher top speeds and less fuel mileage. Where the 7 ports have slightly lower top and better mileage.

Default 2011 IDM "Torque" base

I just want to let everyone know that the NEW 2011 IDM .21 and .12 are really good. Stock and the Mod version are very powerful and durable. Not to sound like I'm advertising because I get nothing out of this but if you are looking to buy a new engine I would consider the IDMs or the Picco Torque versions. Anyone else running the new IDM?

I have been kicking the idea around since running with ya at Kraceway. Finally got off my arse (that means made the time) and got in contact with Jerry.
What pipe&header, fuel and plug are you running in your 1/8th?

What's up man? I'll see you soon Anyway I ran 2015 pipe/short header, IDM T7 plug and Byrons 25%/11%. Head shims @ .6mm. The motor is great, easy tuning and runs cool. I think I was running about 230 most of the and the highest temp all weekend was about 250 but that was on any empty tank. After running the IDM .12 the last to weekends I'm sold.

I was able to run over 5 minutes with my modified IDM EVO4 .21 at my home track. I was able to get just under 5 minutes at the Worlds track in Homestead. My modified IDM EVO4 was doing 70+ MPH down the Homestead straight.

It's the Nova pipe/header. I will be running the 2033 from now on though because I feel the 2033 Picco pipe is a better match.
