That looks awesome Masive.... I like your work, and actualy I must admit it was photos of your work that inspired me to mod engines... I am still a rookie and do it only for fun.... But anywqys nice work man !

MassiveMods 01-04-2007 10:31 PM

thanks for the compliment... But I have actualy done less motors then I first figured.. I have officialy done 8...well the motor in the picture is number 8....I have been working with engines my whole life, so it come natural to me, I also have steady hands.... But even though it looks pretty I am still a rookie....

But I do have a question about the head button, I have heard about people cutting small tear drops in the button, then taking the squish down real tight...

another interesting this is these STS 30's have 228 degrees open on the crank rortr from factory, 170 exhaust and 112 transfer/boost.... really odd timing IMO

MassiveMods 01-04-2007 11:11 PM

Yeah that is odd timing the transfers would usually be around the 114 to 117 and inlet around 200 , 170 is pretty good for exhaust ...

the 112 deg on the transfer is something you would expect on a smaller engine generally .

Head button geometric de compression is a nice one to play with. there are so many combos to work with , radiating domes with flat pistons or vise versa... flat on flat , dome and dome .. The flash face is something that intrigues me , there is a lot to gain in there.

Hi Mark the gold crank is that one fo your Titanium coated cranks?. If only they could make a clear crankcase to show all the bling off. Regards Jeremy.

MassiveMods 01-05-2007 04:38 PM

yeah we were toying with the idea of having a clear back plate and a mini disco ball inside.. lol

itchy b 01-06-2007 05:29 AM

That would definately rock Massive ;)

MRX4-R03 01-06-2007 10:36 AM

IF I MAY ASK WHAT DO YOU USE TOI POLISH THE CRANK, WHAT TYPE OF POLISHING LIQUID IS USED...

MassiveMods 01-06-2007 02:47 PM

Hey MRX

I use Turtle Wax for polishing before pics, it gives a nice finish. But when i do a mototr i dont use any cutting compounds, they can leave a residue that will react with fuel . If a crank is cruddy i use some super fine 800 wet and dry then clean off with kerosine and parrafin oil.

Sent you a E-mail MM.

Thanks,
Joe Maxey

MM, that crank looks like it was titanium-nitrided coated.

Sure was ! it works nice ! smooth and durable and corrosion proof ! With our plating method you get close to an extra 6 to 8 litres on the crank pin before the ti starts to wear. Thats in its break in period so by the time its all gone the pin is still in great shape. We also digitally measure the pin for concentricity and then hone it if its not perfect. Makes for a real smooth motor and real slow pin and rod wear.

Hey here are some piccys of our latest project , Its a shumacker fusion with a CMB motor i completely rebuilt from scratch. The crank and case you see in the above pic is that motor. We will be putting a 1/8 body and wheels on it to get to our goal speed of 111 MPH or 177 KPH we have clocked it at 86 MPH with a modded TT21 and 1/10 scale wheels before we did all the extra gearing work.. The chassis and clutch work was done by Wolf Pack in germany .

Here is a link to the motor on the bench , we are waiting for footage of it on road.. we have tested it but need to reinforce the chassis as its tortion twisting in second and third gear..
