Nova Carb getting hot!!
bros, m using a nova engine, as we all know all nova engine comes with metal carb, unlike OS tat use plastic ones, so is it normal for it to get very hot to touch, esp on the mixture needle. coz i was told that its not good for the mixture needle to get hot.
If u try to restart the engine after it finish 1 tank of fuel, it just doesn't want to start up asap, u have to force the fuel to get into the engine by covering the exhaust hole. so is this normal for all nova based engine? thanks

The carb setting is too lean. You can try different fuel, higher nitro content, hotter plug, etc so you get same power without running too lean and damage the internal parts of the engine.

and 200F = 93 Celcius, so no problem....
Yes, this is the problem with metal carbs, once there hot and you need to re-start your engine, this might not work....
That's why engine manufacturers went to composite carbs, but also these have there problems...

ventilation i believe there is nothing we can do to it. we usually run max about 120oC, slightly less than that.

I'm running my Nova 12+3 SCT at 240F to 250F. Don't have any problems with it. The engine keeps on getting faster and faster. These new engines like to run hot and they can take the heat also

I would gess it could be to much oil in the fuel making the engine work harder. But it could be somthing as simple as this sometimes when you get vapor lock thats when the carby gets so hot it boils the fuel in the carby normaly the cause of this is the crank rubbing on the crank case under the carby. This is nromaly just from manufacture were the crank may of just been to good of a fit and the block be tight on it. Some times this will ware out of the engine over time some times not ive seen people put a crank in a drill press and use very fine sand paper just to take a tiny but of metal away form the crank. you use a drill press because it spins the crank giving you a liner finish and even rather than more metal from one section of the crank. But first off id defently ritchen the engine top and bottom and maby try some difrent fuel with around 10% oil engines like novarossi sirio rb and many outhers do not need much oil in fact more oil in the fuel can cause more probs like over heating and boging the engine down because rember the engine has to move that oil around inside the engine a low % syn high quality oil will = lower running temps better excelaration wile giving max protection an on road engine only needs to run at about 100 deg C max some like it a litle hotter but normaly with the right fuel and tune you will get stagering paformance erunning the engine form about 80 to 100 deg c.
