Everything I have read says 1 1/2 to 2 Gallons.

Default won't start

Put a new JLR Evo 3 in my CRT .5 on the weekend and idled two tanks of 30% Tornado through it with a Picco P6TC plug. Went to start it up today and I just cannot get it going. Glow plug was brand new. I'm still new to this so what else should I be looking for?

On the Picco engines I would most defiantly change it at 1 gallon intervals. The engine revs high and can cause rod failure from stress if not maintained. I am sure they can run for longer but do you want to knock a hole in the case over a 40 dollar rod?

It really depends on how hard you twist the motor. If you run short tracks with conservative gearing I have seen rods outlast the rest of the motor. If you run 301, every gallon, hahaha. High RPM's are a killer on the rod.

[QUOTE=Team Kamikaze;4525921]Talk to me Steve.

I will give you a call about a engine later this week. I bought the last one off of you. It was great meeting you last week.

i have used the Ninja plug for over 12 months on all my picco engines.
i did remove the head button, i tried a nova plug, ninja plug and OS plug.
OS plug sits deeper into the combustion area. Nova doesnt seal. and ninja plug fitted perfect flush with the chamber, and seals perfect.
my last 2 events with the picco tuned motor, i used ninja 6 plugs. no problems at all with over 5 lts of Runnertime.

try a new glow plug. make sure your glow starter is charged. if it was running hot it could have blown a plug on cooldown. i have had many OS plugs inmy OS motors do this. more of a batch issue i think though. but its still possible to happen to any plug. if it does start, when its going again, try to richen the top end a bit, it may be running lean and creating heat, which is burning out the plug.

Thanks for the help. It WAS the glow plug. Put a new one in and it started right away.

On the red dot. On a really humid day. What is the best thing to do, not to get it to over heat? Last weekend I richened the top end. But I think I should have done the bottom end.

The bottom end needle only affects the initial acceleration, the High speed needle should only be the one adjusted if you want it to run rich.

I was more asking the question to help control over heating during the the high heat/ humid days we have in this area.

You can read posts here saying that you can run your engine leaner when it gets warmer outside, but when it gets even warmer and with the humidity we in the Netherlands also have to deal with, you must indeed richen the top end of the engine. This might needs to be set so rich, that the engine easily flames out, this is the point where you should put in a hotter plug.....

So:
Richen the engine and put in a hotter glow plug, because then the engine is better able to burn the fuel....
