And I know its an extra expense, but you will never realise the full potential of this engine unless you get the Picco 2607 pipe, thrust me, you WILL notice a difference. Team Kamikaze has plenty iin stock.

NO it's not with the clutch on, and the clutch nut is for the adjustment spring to advance or delay take off. Few others I talked to had this, but it proved to be no issue. Yes, I am aware of the picco pipe and will get it later on. For now I just wanted to get the engine and few other parts. Now I have to see if it comes with the manifold or maybe one has to be purchased seperately.

Any Foam air filter for a large bore carb will be just fine.

Default Play

My experience with the end play in the crank is it's eliminated when you put the collet and flywheel on. Pull the crankshaft toward you, push the collet up tight against the nose bearing/spacer. Tighten clutch nut. This is true for any engine. NickA

with the Evo3, is the shimming of the engine only need to be altered for nitro content in the fuel or is it based on the model of car and nitro content, im not clearly understanding...for instance, say i want to run 25% nitro content in an NT1, what would be the correct shimming for this engine?

By the way, what would be the correct nitro content for breaking in this engine and club racing?

Run your engine in with the fuel you are going to race with.

Shimming is dependant on the nitro % and humidity / sea level etc so it does not matter which car you run it in

so am i understanding that, on a hypothetical race day...while in practice and warm up, during engine tuning, the temperatue and humidity would be read, then the engine tuned and shimmed accordingly? for this engine, is the engine shimmed every tune or once shimmed it pretty much keeps the shim the same but tuned differently?

If you are going to run 25%, then I would leave the shims that is on the JL EVO 3 engine, just tune the engine accordingly.

Team Kamikaze, in another post i think you wrote that the JL manuel says to run the engine with 30% nitro? is that correct or is it 25%? what are the benifits of running at a higher or lower nitro content? is it solely dependant on air temperature and humidity?

Talking another pleased cusetomer!!

Hello all, I just wanted to say that I am stoked I just got my engine in today!! It only took 2 days, that is some fast shipping. I have read through this whole thread and I ready to break-in my engine!!

p.s. you asked me if I was going to be at the WinterNats, I am not able to make it due to my work schedule and school;maybe next year!!!!!

Oh and do you recommend using a after-run oil in the engine after each run? I have some marvel mystery oil....
Thanks, Team Kamikaze (Sam)

Jason.

hold off on the after run oil because you need to know if the oil you are using will eat away at the silicone putty in the crank.

How would I know if my after run oil will damage the putty, what should I look for ? I currently have Hobbico After Run Engine Oil but I would not like to use it on the JL if there may be a problem.

What are my options?
