Perhaps the crank is bigger only on the JLs and not on the non-JL Piccos. I have both engines, I will check too.

Just got the EVO 3 (no plug came with it but bought some anyway) and the carb still rotates even with the lock pin tightened down. What gives? The carb needs some force to be pulled out, but when at opt temperature wont it just vibrate out of place?

You have to grind a little off of the face of one of the 2 pieces that make the pinch bolt. Some of the them seem to be a little long and they hit each other before pinching the carb.

I guess I've been lucky, 3 engines (1 evo2 and 2 evo3) and havent had this problem.

Picco 2607 is no doubt the best combination with the motor. After running with the nov 2630 at first, the power difference was very noticeable when I put on the 2607.

John,
If you read most of the post in this thread, there is only 1 pipe that gives the most power out of the JL's/PICCO certainly it won't be the 2630.

Folks RCREVO and I have joined the EVO3 club... I was impressed with the regular EVO2 top end and snappier bottom end so if the 3 had to be better for the price we car pooled to our LHS to get it. Yes I did pick up plugs for it and went with the #6 plug. Too bad I found a fault clutch bearing which I will go to the LHS for again sometime this week.

I do notice the motor seems slightly smaller and feels lighter than the OS engine as well. Yes the heatsink size is a big give away too. There seems to be a little play in the crankshaft where I can pull it forward slightly...VERY slightly though. Should I return it?

Im no expert, but if you're able to move the crankshaft while the clutch is on the engine, then you clutch nut needs to be tighter.

Just make sure you tune the bottom end rich, and run for at least 2 minutes before you tune it, they get better after they warm up.

I dont know what kind of break in you will use. We break them in with one tank at idle and then 5 tanks at a very rich full throtle, so rich the wheels dont move. Thats per Team Kamikaze instructions.

I was cleaning my newest engine on Sunday (it has 3 club races on it) and I can still feel metal to metal when I spin the engine.
