Hi sam, I got my first red dot from you this year! I havent got the evo 3 yet I am just checking it out, can you pm me a quote for either the skyline pipe VR12 and the 2607 to australia , question is there much difference between these two pipes in performance as I run a tight track?
cheers!

Default 2607 and skyline pipe

The 2607 will give you more top end then the skyline pipe. The bottom end and midrange is about the same between the two pipes. If you can find a novarossi conical header(medium length) for the skyline the performance will be very close to performance to the 2607. I tested those combo's alot last year.

Use the 2607, there is no other choice.

You can alsouse a 2617 pipeset. I beleve that Sam sells them as well. This and the 2607 are the choices that work well. the 2617 has a short torque curve lets the engine stand up faster then the 2607 but the 2607 has a smoother power band and more linear feel to it. Tight track you may want to try the 2617 pipeset.

That reminds me, I just tried the 2617 this past weekend on a very tight track and loved it. Much better than the 2607 when the car can never really get up to full speed.

Sam actually has a good package deal on the Red dot evo3 + skyline pipe. At that price you can also get the picco pipe in addition.

I was running the 2607 as well, and decided to try the skyline and for our semi-tight more technical track, I like the skyline better. Gives it a better torque curve in my O-pinion.

You are correct, on small tight technical track with a short straightaway, the Skyline VR 12 plus works better than the PICCO 2607, but if you have a big free flowing track with Long straightaway, the PICCO 2607 works the best, you can also try thr 2617 on short technical tracks.

Hey guys in aus running this engine, where are you getting your Picco plugs, or what are you using?

I forgot to put some in with my order of an Evo3 and cant justify spending the 20-30 bucks ems postage to get a couple of glow plugs.

Thanks,
Cam.

Hi Guys

I ran my JL Red Dot today for the first time that i got with my car i bought second hand. It seem to not return to idle straight away about mid tank. I wasn't able to check the temperature as the battery in my temp gun has gone flat. I richened the HSN and it now seem fine, isn't as punchy now though, do i need to lean the LSN a little now?

Apart from that is seems like a great engine.

Thanks in advance

Put the HSN back and try richening the LSN. They need a rich low.

Went to put together my new .12 Offroad Red Dot and I noticed that the cooling head doesn't sit flush with the engine. This is my 1st nitro engine in a while. Am I meant to tighten it down? As it seems very tight?
