Are you using the correct seal/gasket? it should be part #51998, the 51998 gasket fits perfect.

That gasket (51997) is only good for any Nova Rossi based pipe (like the skyline pipe) to JL engine, for the JL engine to Picco 2607 you need #51998

I hate to tell you this but you will probley have to replace that gasket every week you race. Last year I considered myself lucky to make it the whole day and it was still good to use for part of the next week.

If you're destroying those gaskets, you should play with your manifold-to-engine fit. Were you using 2 exhaust springs to hold the manifold on? Try one.

Also, play with the exhaust hanger on the car. See which side is falling apart, loosen the hanger, then try to position the pipe away from that side, then tighten down the hanger.

That should help make them last a little longer.

u know i tried to adjust the pipe but check this. my exhaust hanger mount is dead locked up, i bent an allen key into a twizler trying to get it off. i was flexing the upper deck?! the top phillips screw, not the set screw. i can adjust the pipe away from the pulley, and thats it. to really get it right i will have to bend the hanger, i must have banged the pipe last year and torqued it GOOD. i would have to drill it out.

the picco manifold only has space for one spring, wish it had 2

It is the same gasket for the manifold to pipe, so if you have a pipe set then you should have 2.

Craig, like Gene said, I would plan on one per race. That is if you plan on hitting any boards all day. This pipe manifold makes the most power for our track but it sticks out so far a little tap of the wall tears up that gasket. The Nova engine gaskets have a groove cut in them that sits in the engine which helps keep it in place but Piccos don't. I think that is why they get damaged so easily. So, buy a bunch of gaskets so I can borrow some when I need them!!! Oh yeah, I drilled an extra set of holes in my manifold. There isn't much meat but if you are very careful you can do it.

While your buying those gaskets Craig, get that exhaust hanger piece so you can replace it. And maybe an allen driver to replace that allen key you twisted up.
