Guys! help me find the same of this Novamega SX2

Hello guys
I'm helping a friend of mine find sleeve, piston and conrod for a SX21 from NovaMega
It's a old engine. He uses in a Vector (early model)
Here are some photos. I hope we can find the exact name and also the parts ;)

your mate is most likely better off getting a new motor.
if the parts are available you'll find that the cost of rebuilding it will be close to the cost of some good new motors

dun think so

hey bro that must be a really old engine cos most of the nova mega line up now all have purple heads. i cant find ani nova mega with a white head. must have been real old. heh. i would go with itchy b, a new motor is definitely better. if ure luck enough to find parts for ur current motor i think u wud onli have 1 or 2 parts, and shud they break or wear off, u wont have ani more parts support. my 1 cent. heh

If he really wants to keep running it, assuming there is no damage his best bet is probably just getting the sleeve pinched and hope for the best. Dunno if a conrod that old will hold up through another break in though. Probably needs to be replaced already.

That is a NovaMega EVO2.....

Parts are not made anymore, but even if they where Buying a new engine would be a better option.....

Goto Serpents products page.....
http://www.mytsn.com/products/parts.asp?prid=795
and also find the pricelist for parts for this engine....

thanks for everybody who answered

I talked with him today, and we both agree that buy a new engine is the best choice as you friends suggested me
M7H you are right! I have seen in serpent site, it is a SX21 Evo2, but He won't buy parts yet.. maybe when an opportunity appear

I'm totally new to 21. engines Could you suggest an engine?

Is your friend a good driver, or new in this .21 1/8 scale cars....

Because then I would not suggest to buy an expensive engine with to much power to handle.....

The Novarossi 421P suggested a few posts back is a good option, but quiet expensive, so I would suggest to look at the Mega ZX21 DSII engine, affordable, just as fast as the 421P, and in my opinion a good engine to start with.....

But, this is my opinion, you will hear a lot of different opinions if you ask around....

Most of the time the best engine to get is what is available at your Local Hobby Store (LHS), just in case you need support and replacement parts......

jeff1 11-06-2006 02:50 PM

He drives only for fun don't need an ultra-powerful engine :p
Price is very important!!
I will recommend a ZX21 like you said, it's easy to get parts here

How about 21. engines from OS?

jeff1 11-12-2006 04:30 PM

My LHS don't have the DSII, so we decided to buy a different engine

I was looking at mushroom site and found
Ninja MR21-R01 $385
OS 21VZ-R Ver. II $230
Novarossi S721P $352
Novarossi 35 Plus 21 $549

The 35 Plus 21 is the fastest engine, but very expensive (it will be the last choice :P)
How is the performance of S721P?
Have you ever tried OS 21VZ engine? It's so cheap
And Ninja MR21-R01? It's a durable engine? Easy to tune?

I'm open to suggestions!
one more time
thanks!

M7H 11-13-2006 12:21 AM

My choice would be, the NR S721p.
I don't have experience with the OS engine...
The NR 35+ is fast, but to fast for you guys (and expensive)
The Ninja, also a nice option.

jeff1 11-13-2006 06:16 AM

What engine is 421P? I didnt find in nova site
Do You know where can I find thoses engines?
RX321PS
RX221PS
RX21R1WCS
Its not from Plus line, so I hope they're cheaper

the-border carry the Mega DSII.. and with a nice price. Is this engine is good? Durable? Some friends had serious problems with the ZX12.. premature consuming, conrod lasted only 4 liters and sleeve 5, air-leak but I have no idea if .21 engines are the same. Are you racing with it?

Nobody here run Ninja engine therefore I never saw the perfomance.. I know they won .12 championship, but was experience guys :) and I'm not sure if the engines they run is the same that we find to buy

M7H thanks for your patience helping an amateur :D

I believe it was the AAC version (Aluminium sleeve) of the 321 engine, don't take that engine, there is actualy only 1 manufacturer which has been succesfull with AAC engines, and that is Sirio, other manufacturers didn't get the process of making these type of engines under control......
But still AAC engines are for experienced racers, and certainly not for an amateur.. ;)

Yes I race with this engine and I like it....
The Mega ZX21 DSI, had problems, but in my opinion the ZX21 DSII is a perfect engine......
You still need to replace it's conrod after 5 liters of fuel, if you "abuse" the engine in "racetrim" if used less hard, it will last longer.....
But this also goes for Novarossi based engines, so take your own decisions here.......

Also Ninja is a nice option, but I can't comment on any issues with the engine because i don't have experience with them.......

No problem.....

In my opinion if you are a beginner with this hobby, don't buy an engine which is to fast/expensive. First go for the less expensive ones, like OS, or even an STS engine might help you get through the first learning curves......

jeff1 11-13-2006 07:06 AM

I'm new to 1/8 racing, but I have been 5 years praticing 1/10 Touring cars.. all that I know is from these type of cars

The RX321PS is very expensive, I won't consider it

About Mega engines they're very fast stock. It's good hear that they solved the critical problems, in quality they almost like Nova as I see. If I get one of it, probaly will run with a rich carburation. Please tell with which engines are you running against

I will ask in Ninja thread for more information.. its cheaper than novas

Humm.. Finally I'm deciding, things is getting more clear

I'm running a TZ12, very fast.. but don't know about .21 VZ-R.. its anymore in my wishlist

Have you saw S721P running?

M7H 11-13-2006 07:45 AM

Yes the Mega is fast enough, but I think the quality of Nova is better..... but you have to pay more......

Engines I run against in races are:
JP, Axe Rossi, Ninja, Novarossi, Sirio, Vega, IDM, Picco...
So actually all that exist......
For 99% of the racers that exist, the Mega is fast enough, because I see racers with the top of the line engines, which are actually to fast for them and therefor slows them down, because of missing some corners....... ;)

Go for the Mega, you will not be dissapointed....... :D
And yes, run a rich bottom carb. setting.
