Default Difference between EFRA & IFMAR Spec Engines?

Was checking out some engines and was just wondering what the difference is between a EFRA & IFMAR Spec engine. Thanks.

Mostly in the crank, or I suggest you wait for RACING4EVO he will be in this thread soon answering all your questions, he knows a lot about engines, and he stand by his statements.

The difference in IFMAR and EFRA are the crankshafts. EFRA only allows a 7mm crankshaft bore, and no turbo scoop protruding into the crankshaft. IFMAR has no rules on crankshaft bore, or turbo scoops. IFMAR engines are usually more powerfull.

ha pelico
i believe that efra and roar go by the same rule with engines . 5,5 carb and 5mm stinger but i dont see in the roar book the size of the crank opening ?

EFRA is the most conservative of all... Limitations in the crackshaft bore and no turboscoop in the hole. Those engines have a similar work done ONLY in the counterweight... I think efra also got some limitations on the exhaust port height... Don't remember if it still...

IFMAR and ROAR engines are mostly the same specs... they are more powerfull as you can have bigger shaft bore and scoop...

One more think, I guess that ROAR engines come prepared for higher nitro content, as the other organizations limit this...

EFRA:
for .12 engine
- Max nitro 16%
- Crank limitation
Probably that why the WASP REV is not seen in EFRA races, because the limitation in the crank, is what kills the performance of this engine I believe......

for .21 engine
- Max nitro 25%
