0.3mm is then minimum when using the conical chamber. I think it should be ok for 16-30% nitro.

Your clutch is set wrong and probably the carburator settings are off also. It's the nr.1 mistake with racers using this engine, they run the clutch to soft and then complain it has not bottom end, when in fact it should take off the line like a rocket...

What car are you using? pipe?

The 07 has the same base as 06, only extra work to the crankcase internals and different piston/liner. At the end is has more torque and power throughout the rpm range and more top speed. Carb is the same as updated carb.

I use CRF's carb. I've changed nothing.. using Skyline VR12 plus pipe..

all of us drive TM G4S and as Nano says we use hard clutch spring.. clutch adj. is so important..

at every start of race, I enter 1 st curve in the first place.. so bottom end is good..

Still Confused
I have just bought a new CRF WASP off eBay. I did this before I read this thread. I suspect that I have the original carb I haven't recieved as yet.
1) How will I be able to identify which model of carb it is?
2) If it is the original, do I then need to get a high speed needle and a complete carb body?

Thank you MRX4-R03 for the OS answers! Have you ever raced at the Golf Coast Raceway in Houston? This is my local track, and I would like to know what gearing to use?

Thank you in advance
Nick Marson

Hi,

1) If the carb has a "cup" shaped insert it's probably the old version. It it has a conical insert it's probably new.
2) Yes, you can contact Team Orion USA about them.

The thing with pipes is that they need to be legal for racing. There is no point for us in using and developping the engine around outlaw pipes.
Right now the best legal pipe is our 2647 pipe with either the short or long header.

Hello all,

Nano, you made me trust you. I bought the engine in the bag with Adrien's signature. I also bought the new turbo button and the fuel splitter. I have the MTX4 and we use 16% nitro. I suppose that the recommended setup is to use the new turbo button with 0.30 spacer, the new carburator insert, orion shoes with all the screws in, orion shoe, orion spring and orion exhaust and manifold. I have seen that you recommend 0.5mm gap and almost 0 end play but I do not know where to start the spring preload (just a good starting point and I will adjust according to the track conditions). I would appreciate if you confirmed that the above set up seems OK and if you advised the spring preload.
Thanks
