Quick question, the manual says when reseting the low speed needle, to open the carb all the way first. Im assuming you don't need to do this just to make adjustments on the LSN right? its only recommended to open the carb to eliminate the chance of flaring or ringing the LSN right? can someone confirm?

Thanks OleC!

Race was a lot of fun, although I had many problems..

In the first round of qual. I managed provisional TQ. Then on the next two rounds I had throttle servo problems and by the time I decided to change the servo, I had lost the remaining qual. attempts.

I was fortunate enough that the time from the 1st qual round was good enough for an A-main spot, in 8th.

In the final I managed to climb up to 4th quite fast but then due to a very wrongly set up centax, the engine would die on every pitstop and thus I lost about 70 seconds overall. Still I managed to finish 5th, so I am happy.

The car was very good and the engine.. well considering I had made a mess of the centax and the two speed gearbox, it was a miracle of how well it performed..
.. so I am very happy and excited to do some practice and learn how to adjust and tune the centax.

Keep in mind this was my 1st ever race in 1/10 gas as I only race 1/10 electric touring... and I had only managed to do 4 fuel tanks of practice, out of which two of them were run-in for the engine..

Hi.

We are setting up a HoBao GPX4 PRO with an CRF REV engine, and we need a few pointers. So if Nano or someone else with som experience could help us it would be great

We have the Serpent clutch kit.
It's the old engine, but with all the new update parts.
Will be running Meccamo 16% nitro 8% oil.
We have two tracks nearby. One small and one medium size. We'll set it up for the tight and technical track first.

How do we set it up for this track?

Edit: The serpent clutch didn't quite fit...

The HoBao clutch spring is 7,75mm while the Orion spring is 9,4mm.
The hobao clutch weights are 4,0mm while Orion is 4,7mm.
Also the Orion clutch is have a too large outer diameter for the HoBao clutch plate...

I was hoping we could use the spring at least, but it compress way too much to be compared to any other setting advice I think... I could not get more than 1,1mm preload?

Any ideas?

Default Hope this gets you started.

For a small tight track, you should run small tires, like 58frt,60 rear, the Rev works its best with small tires. The clutch setup, you need to find a 1/8 scale hard spring, second the flyweights should be drilled an add 2 grub screws in each flyweight. Also did you see if the V1RRR clutch or Mtx4 clutch kit.I,ve been running since day 1 an still running it.

The hole is 0,05 mm larger in diameter. The new settings are on team orion web site.

Any news on WASP Rev CRF 2007 ?
Does any one have tried it?
What improvements it has compared to old version?
Will there be combo sets available?

Thanks Impalabob

I have the Serpent clutch kit but that didn't work...
So we are back to the std GPX4 clutch. Set up the engine with the new carb parts, but the first day at the track (today) produced more questions than answers I'm affraid...

Is it really correct to have the spraybar at 1,5 turns out from fully closed as per instructions on Orion Webpage? (Updated carb parts)

The engine acted very strange, but that migth be the std GPX4 clutch affecting it also off course. It went like a rocket the first 15-20 meters on the track, then lost most of its power? Tried adjusting the needles, without much effect. But after a few laps it woke up again. But it still sounded strange...
Still, most of the time it sounded like the rpm limiter on a regular car engine??

Sounded like an RPM limiter? Like it was bouncing on the top rpm? I had that effect, not bouncing, but it would top out and cut out, just like rpm limiter. I believe if its doing that, your too rich on the high speed needle. The fuel is putting out the glowplug, so hence the cut in combustioin, just like RPM limiter. Lean it out on the top end some more, sound like you still got more rev's in it.

Thanks Quark

Sounds right with the engine cutting.

Killed the clutch yesterday (don't ask... ) but we got a whole day of testing

Still havent figured out the carb settings yet. But a few pointers would be nice

Could someone post their carb settings with the new carb parts, just so to compare?

Built a new clutch today with the Orion Serpent weights with two screws in them. Also put in the optional blue HoBao clutch. There is no room for the Orion spring, but we set the standard spring at 0,9mm tension.

Will test this afternoon

It will engage to quickly and you will get a laggy take off. If you cant fit the orion spring then take the weights out and drill the holes out to 3.5mm

Cheers
