Default CRF Powered s720

Just got back from Kraceway US SEDAN Championship in Kissimee Fla. 3rd in the A-main open class. The engine was crazy fast, it was the only CRF powered car at the track. The motor stood its ground an was out powering alot of modified motors at the track.I will be running this motor at the Winternats 07.Ps did not ever hve any carb problems at all ,also running 40% nitro.

Great news Impalabob!

What pipe were you using? did you change the head clearance?

The pipe was the novarossi 2630, with novarossi med conicol header,no did not add a shim, ran it right out of the box. I will be testing the mega pipe combo 2607.I hve met alot racers that hve given me props on running this engine because they just cant get there,s to run so im kinda the CRF King around these parts.Hint trying to get in with The TeamO

Impalabob/Nano:

A couple of questions. I have the wasp crf engine and I have ran it a couple of times now. The last time I ran the engine was on the big track in Cincinnati. The engine was awesome, but I had one issue. I could not keep the temperature consistant. One run it would be rich the next it would be lean. I run the RRR with the Orion clutch set and 20% Byrons fuel with a number 6 glow plug stock head shims. This seems like an air leak. I found a couple of things when I cleaned the car up.

One was a torn exhaust gasket and the other was the o-ring at the base of the carb seat was out of its indention. Could these have caused the problem I was having ?

And could the issue with the HSN housing cause this also ?

I have not run the car since as the weather here has not been great in a couple of weeks. Thanks for your insight.

Any one of those or all of the 3 things you mentioned can cause the tuning variation. There is a new carb out that addresses the housing problem and always check the exhaust seal. I have a hole in the bottom of the crank after running mine with a split seal!

Fastrcracer, maybe the damaged seal and o-ring where the problem. Also you have to check the plastic sleeve around the carburator. If the carb retainer is overtightened, it can squeeze the sleeve and create gaps where air can filter thru.

Also the updated hsn holder may help, it has a bigger bore so it's less sensitive and it makes the engine setup more stable.
The updated carb is exactly the same, it only has a bigger bore to improve low-end power.

Contact your hobby shop or Team Orion USA to get the updated parts you need.

If you're planning on getting them from Team Orion USA, call them. Don't rely on email.
