Josh got 4th place in the touring car class which I think is pretty good considering he was trying to drive thru a bunch of serpents!! Serpent was well represented at this race.

No, MUGEN was well represented at this race, there where only about 9 Snakes.......
4 of them where the new 720, and 3 720's where in the final, and won it.....

But, we now atleast can say that the WASP engine is not "outrunning" anything out there..........

Even the new Ninja was faster.......

I make this comment, just to ease a bit on the "hype"....

What ninja? Mike Swauger was running his trusty JP. In that race, it came down to driver skills, hence why Mike was able to lap everyone in the race and Josh was the one behind Mike until he began having slow pits. Just to paint a picture, Mike changed tires and lost 2nd gear at some point and still managed to finish 1 lap behind. First and second (Toso and Darin), never changed tires and never had any problems with their car. Anyways, it came down to being consistant, but all I got a say is Mike aint human

Oh yeah, forgot to mention... We comparing a $450 JP engine vs a $265 engine?

Default If you are in the DC/MD/VA area this weekend

Mike S. will be at 301 Raceway this weekend to help with setups and show off his driving skills. Word is he has a side bet on how many laps he'll put on out local hot shoe. At the end of the weekend, he will pull his engine, prove it's not modded and raffle it off. Should be interesting.

I'm still torn between which engine to get once they are both available to more of the public. Both sound like winners, and in the hands of capabe drivers (Mike and Josh are 2 of the greats) they should be great no matter what.

No, I'm comparing to a Mega ZX engine, which won.....
what's the price of that?....

Not that I'm not plessantly surprised to see changes in the engine's, just want to give a fair point of view to everybody.....

i saw the engine in action and josh cyrul and rick howart seems to have pretty good power. i also noticed that Rick did a 20 lapper with out pitting in qualifying which is pretty good. Not sure if josh ptted but he seem to be close to swaugers speed in qual. I can't speak about the main since i didn't make it down to watch it.

Default Miracle Mike

Mike Swauger has to be one of the best drivers out there- Now if he can just get a ride that can run similar times on harder tire and be a bit more reliable. Something like a 720 maybe??

From what I hear they never needed a tire change and never broke anything.

Oh yes- they also won!

The 720 looked very good, stable on the track. Toso had a good run and Daren showed very good sportsmanship. Excellent race, congrats to all that made the A.

I can assure you that the engines Josh Cyrul, Rick Howhart, Derek Buono, Mike Huse, and myself were using were all straight out of the box with no modifications. The only change made to the engines over stock setting were most used the optional carb venturi. In fact, Josh, Rick and Derek were all using 16% fuel and having great results with it!

As I said before, the engine is a very capable race engine...It just requires a little different clutch and gearing set up to take advantage of the different power band this engine delivers.

I would have to say, by judging the performance of this engine against all that we competed against over the weekend, that this engine can hold it's own against all the super expensive modified Italian engines on the market.

I don't want to call a Mega ZX a "super expensive modified Italian engines"......

M7H, since you are going to be so anal about everything, let me rephrase my previous statement.

The Orion/Peak CRF engine has proven it can hold it's own against everything else on the market.

And just so you know, there were NO Ninja engines competing at this event.

And were the Mega ZX's that serpent used 'out of the box'? Were they modified? Who cares! Was Chris's car faster than Josh's, I don't think so. They looked pretty equal to me! Chris simply had a smarter pit strategy and drove a flawless race as usual!

My hat goes off to Chris Tosolini and Team Serpent for an excelent effort and ultimately the championship! Bravo!
