Well, I broke in the engine last week at a local parking lot so I really didn't have much to go on till today. I was a little leary since breakin wasn't as smooth as I would have liked. I had sent an e-mail to Josh with my concerns. (To his credit, he cares about the little guy too and was quick to respond, Thanks Josh) . I was almost a full turn on the top and bottom richier than brakein instructions. Well as it turns out all is fine. I tighten the clutch more than I would for my tsr3 and also had to tighten up the 2 speed. The engine came to life and seems to have endless rpms. I am impressed to say the least. Tomorrow will be a test and tune on the clock. I will keep you posted.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info. I would like to purchase from my LHS but they want to sell what they think I should buy and not what I actually want to buy. This is the reason I end up going to online shops.

If you can tell me when they have arrived and perhaps who I should contact that would be appreciated.

Regards
Simon

i saw the motor run last friday at our local track and all i can say is WOW! the motor sounds so different and was very quick. the person who ran it had a Skyline VR12Plus pipe on and the motor seems to climb up the RPM really really quick. i was really impressed with the runtime as well. after the 5 minute race, i had a couple laps left on my TZ engine, but his kept on going and it probably lasted another minute or a minute and a half after mine ran out . the temps were in the 240's to 250's which was pretty good for the 105+ degrees Arizona summer heat.

More mileage than the TZ? I'm up for that.

No Worries Simon, I'll talk to them tomorrow and let you know. Also, let me know what area you are in so I can find out who a good hobby shop will be for you.

Cheers,

Mike.

We also discovered that the engine can run about 1 min more than all the others depending on drivers.

Hmm...thinking of it for the price and mileage maybe the CRF is the engine to get. What's the best pipe for this bad boy or will it adapt to all sorts of pipes? I was thinking of slapping on a vantage or skyline if I can get it.

Since Josh may not want to come on here and brag I will do it for him.

Today at Toledo he was running his 1/10 Outlaw RRR with the CRF engine getting ready for the Nationals. I couldn't believe how fast that thing was, he actually pulled 1/8 scale cars down the straight. He decided to run 1/8 class, there was no Outlaw class, and TQ'd. We didn't run the Mains since we all wanted to test and tune instead.

I don't know for sure what pipe and gearing he had but I am sure he will be on here to answer any questions.

What website/company has this engine in stock and at a very good price?

Wow...just how much power does this thing have? IS it that much more powerful than the .18TZ and making more than 2hp or something? I wonder how does it compare to say a Rody V12 ROAR vs or JP Modified .12?

The first post has the links for the dyno runs results. basically the Wasp Rev has 1.15-1.2hp out of the box. A normal engine is like 0.8-0.9hp and a tuned engine is 0.9-1hp. So depending on the engine somewhere from 20% to over 30% more power...

Do you mean Josh 2,1cc CRF was faster than 3,5cc engines ?

Nano- Ever spin out or so with all that kinda power?

barclay-I do know of a region 1 driver who was able to hang with some 8th onroads at one of my local tracks with a Tim hots Novarossi motor in his VoneRRR. I wouldn't be surprised of a sedan with that powerful of a motor and tall gearing to easily run with the 8ths or even pass them.

Well my CRF had its first raceday this past weekend and there were more than a few complaints. Some had issues with its speed down the straight but the real problem turned out to be the gas miliage. Most of the grid was running TZs and a couple of 5port TZs all pitting @ just past 5min a tank but the Orion was good for 8.5min a tank with a few dirty looks and comments from a few choice racers.

That's awesome Mark! Could you share some carb setting information with us? What type of pipe were you using? Fuel?

As far as the complaints go, I guess they'll just have to put up with your car until they wise up and buy a WASP Rev.

All kidding aside, those types of complaints can't be too much fun.
