Does the CRF use special plugs or do the std Orion turbo plugs fit?

So essentially these motors arrive in an almost ready to race tune and dont need overly rich settings for break-in?

mtveten - As far as I know, the standard turbo plugs fit but I may be wrong on that one.

Artificial-I - Correct. The break in procedure that is normally used for chormed sleeves is out the window!!!

Try Rc-mart, last time I check they still had some. Stormer would be another place to try, when I last checked they hadn't gotten theirs yet.

I placed an order at RC Mart on Tuesday, but they have not yet dispatched it, and it has now gone from their site.

Awesome , got the motor today. Sadly the company I work for has sprung a new project for me to conquer over the weekend and I race on sunday. So not sure when Ill be able to get some time with this motor.

But tonight is the photo shoot with the motor. You guys are going to get some in your face photos of the motor at least.

I'm going to wait for the right plugs, even if it means I have to stop using the engine on race day. I haven't heard anything about spare parts yet and if for some stupid reason, we end up having to replace something because we used the wrong type of plug, we'll be screwed.

You can use other plugs - Of course Orion recommends their plugs but others will work. It is a good practice though - Use the head button with Orion plugs, if you use a different plug then continue to use that plug with that button. If you want to switch back to a different plug or the Orion ones, use a new combustion chamber - The Orion plug is slightly different but when you tighten in another plug it works fine. It's just not a good practice to jump from one to another for tuning purpose and fatigue on the aluminum of the combustion chamber.

Also, gearing wise for everyone out there: If you try one of these motors you really need to adjust the GEARING!!!

I ran today down in Toledo where I have a ton of laps. The engine was working well but seemed a bit off of what it could be. I dropped the gear and the engine was soooo much better!!! It was like I dropped in a new motor. Everyone remember, this engine likes to REV so be careful to not hand too much gear on it.

Gearing for past engines @ Toledo:

17 / 23 Pinion
61 / 56 Spur

Gearing for Wasp REV @ Toledo:

16 / 22 Pinion
59 / 56 Spur

Keep this in mind when you hit your home tracks to test out the engine!!
