difference between .21 on road and buggy engines ?
i am getting to 1/8 (mugen mrx4) and i am after an engine for it.
nothing super fast as yet as i wanna be able to learn the speed and driving whats the difference between buggy and on road engines ? what do you guys think of the 21 VZ-B V-Spec-T (P) ? seams to be a cheap engine and i like the os engines, i use the tz in my rrr thanks for your help |
I believe do not mix between buggy and onroad engine. You can still use, but each of them designed for different use also. You can look from the outside, buggy engine has larger cooling head.

mrgsr,
Most of the time a buggy engine has less ports in the liner and a smaller carburator. All of this equals a slower, smoother power band, with less overall top-end. We had a couple of guys running buggy engines at afew of our local tracks and they all were able to keep up with most anything on the track, except high end modified engines. :tire: |
thanks for that Jamie
i guess ill do some more researching i want something fast but not the fastest, i havent driven a 1/8 yet so im not sure what to expect John |

main difference is buggy engines rev alot less, have better bottom end. in offroad you need lots of bottom end to clear the double and triple jumps with a short take off.
whereas on road is more free flowing and need a high reving engine. also on-raod engines generally have a metal bearing which is not suitable for off road use. |
To make it simple for you, more torque in buggy engines, less in on road engines. The VZB is an awesome engine, I strongly suggest it, from personal experience.

thanks
im actually after the vz-r engine for my 1/8 on road |
offroad motors, have differant port and crank timeing this is to move the torqe curve lower in the rpm band
