Default Visiting Columbus/Hilliard

I am going to be visiting Columbus/HIlliard in this Septermber, as I am entertaining a couple jobs in the area, that would involve me moving. I was thinking about bringing my RC stuff with me, as I know CRCRC is in Hilliard.

I was looking at the online schedule for the club, but did not see anything listed. So I have a few questions.

A.) Are they still open?
B.) What is the best day to go for a club race, I see fridays and sundays are race days.
C.) What buggy 2wd buggy classes do they offer? I run stock in FL

I will be there September 24 - October 1 of this year 2013.

Thanks in advance!

CRCRC no longer has a track effective about 1 month ago.

Your best bet is to try Sparks Park/EN Hobbies or The Loft. They are both in Columbus, but on the other side of town.

That is unfortunate to hear, as I have heard great things about CRCRC. The other tracks mentioned, do you know when they run?

I thought CRCRC was just closed for their typical summer shut down. Are they closed for good ? Do you know why they closed ?

Closed indefinitely. Financial issues due to low turnouts. There has been an increase in the number of tracks in the central Ohio area and it split the area racers up too much. I raced there about 3 1/2 years. During that time, it was pretty much the main game in town. I left to go on-road in November 2012 and when I went back a couple of times just to see some folks, I was shocked at the low turnouts. We could easily get 60 racers in there on a Friday night when I had started. This past season, I'd be surprised if it was 15 the couple of times I went. They had a winter series that brought in good crowds (100+ entries) but those were once a month.

There is an entry from July 16th where Rodney Black pretty much covers it.

Hi guys. I am a co-owner of The Loft. Our club races are Thursday and Saturday. We've had a good turnout for the summer months and are currently seeing an increase as we move into fall.

We too are saddened by CRCRC's decision to not open their track this winter. We ourselves enjoyed racing there. On a more positive note, they have decided to continue to hold their Winter Racing League (WRL). There will be six rounds, two each at three different tracks in the Central Ohio area. Rounds 1 and 4 will be at The Loft.

Anyway, you can check our FB page https://www.facebook.com/TheLoftRcRaceway
or the website for our schedule http://www.theloftrc.net
