Just an update, made it back to Vietnam with my new x5race with a filled crank and went to the new track here in Vietnam with an engine killer straight. My fusion x5r chased down and passed everything on the track, including a new Ty worlds engine and a spec II with absolutely no problems. Monty designs killer engines for sure

????

I think that's more an issue with tuning/pipe/clutch setup rather than the engine itself.

I can pop wheelies with a p5xlt in my truggy. No issues with top end either, plenty of top speed with even with a 7.5mm venturi.

I ran a btt for a little bit and it felt a lot like OS power. I know that engine is not around anymore but I'm sure it's there under a new name. It never lacked for power top or bottom.

I am not bashing novarossi at all. .. try many combos with pipes clutch etc etc and no thing worked for me ... usually I run picco, reds ... and will try the New speed

Uhh no, the power comes on smooth, but that is different to lacking power down low.

With appropriate pipe / manifold and clutch setup the nova can be made to have a violent low range if thats what your after.
i used a bonito in buggy for a while and it was too much, ive since been using it in truggy and it will still snap traction at will if your throttle is too generous.

I have been OS faithful for many years. Recently I have been looking for something more mostly in terms of runtime. I have ran over powered motors in my buggy before and all I saw personally was slower lap times they were a blast to drive but not desirable in my hands. I just bolted in a x3. Will see what it can do in the track...

Yeah the Nova's I used never had an issue with low end torque. I ran a bonito for a couple of big meets and as mourhino said, it was too much for buggy. Its an issue with clutch/pipe/tune.

Hows the new engines working out? Have you been able to test with them yet?

Maybe a bit softer than I like on bottom so will up the screws maybe an 1/8 or 1/4 each to see. It was hella funny though they were like 20 feet out in front on the straight and I had to make the turn to get on the straight by the first corner on the straight I was side by side and by the next sweeping corner they were in my dust back about 20 feet. Many times coming out of the corner in the straight I had to let out if I was right behind them or I would give them a little love tap in the rear. Totally loving the x5r. Put my truggy out and first jump I lost a rear hinge pin.... running the m2c and one pin wasn't tapered and I didn't notice but there was also one that was shorter. No harm no foul, had my last spare but it was at home not the track. Hope to get the truggy out and see how the x7 does Might even see how my x5l does in truck with the kyosho clutch then pick the best to try the buku aluminum shoes on....

Frank what up?! Hey i switched last month to Monty's engines , and i got some mileage with my extremely heavy finger .So far 0 flame outs or issues and i can go 830 in real world fear farm conditions where as with every one of my speeds or those rc concepts i was running out at 730-745. Now i am running the x5lc in both buggy and truggy . Maybe an x7 in the future for the truggy !!

I've been stuck at 9:30 with B2101, FX, RC concept.
I could usually go 10:45-11 with the spec II
I'm testing the X3 and samurai.
+1 to Monty. He's a great asset to the RC track. He is quite fond of denatured alcohol
