Default Lucky 7 air filters any good?

I already bought a set of these but I think they're too porous.

I use Uni air filter oil on my Losi and OFNA filters and that has been working fine but that oil on the Lucky 7s might not be right.

I called the # on they're website 3 times and still got no response back. I just wanted to know more about what oil to use.

Anybody else use these? What oil do you use on them?

Should be fine just make sure you squeeze excess oil from the filter into some paper towel and allow oil to dry and become tacky.

Get the pre-oiled filters from protek, much better made and about the same price if you buy a 12 pack.

I have found the foam is not dense enough and doesn't trap dirt as well as others, even when properly oiled.

I agree with the two posts above this one. I will also add that they are slightly undersized, for the TKI3 anyway and don't seal firmly against the housing. Pre-oiled Proteks r the way to go for me.

I use Motor Saver filters for all my engines unless the stock one is decent. They cost more but they do work very well and last a good long time, too.

Answer-rc USA filters rock. Fit is tight and they filter very well using a thin oil like PJ-1

I just ordered those, the 12 pack, from Amain.

Can't wait to see how much better they are.

But now I'm screwed for $15 that I spent on the Lucky 7s.

Judging by every thing I'm reading on here, any thing's better that what I originally got.

And I just now looked on Amain for a review on the Lucky 7 filters.

I really need to start reading the reviews before ordering things.

The review says, "These are by far the worst filters I have used in 20 years of racing".

And then the guy goes on to describe exactly what I have now.

As soon as I get the Proteks, hopefully Monday, I'm going to try one and if it's really a lot better, which I'm sure it will be, I'm going to write a rather slanderous review of my own.

I never read the reviews either. There's always black slime on the carb insert. Got my answer-rc filters and they seem tight 2 stage. Will give em a go tonight. Can't be any worse. I'm done with the lucky

I haven't had any issues with mine. The outer filter is completely caked with dust and the inner filter is perfectly clean. They fit really snug in my JQ filter housing and perform just fine.

i used both Lucky7 and Protek pre-oiled. I still have some Lucky7 here, but I stopped using them. they are to porous and don't stop the dirt enough, especially on dusty tracks. Won't risk an engine over that...

But what kind are you referring here?

The Lucky 7 or Protek?

If it's the Lucky 7, what oil do you use?

That's where I was real quick. I ran several tanks in a paved parking lot breaking in a new OS ZXB and then went to the dirt.

Only 7 tanks and 2 filter changes and when I cut the zip tie and removed that little rubber neck, that's when I saw these weren't going to work.

I should have took a pic. That would have shown just how much dirt was all over my reducer. It was really fine dirt kinda just lightly spread out and not REALLY a lot but it's more than I've ever seen from all my engines combined.

It was kinda scary. I couldn't drive this car anymore until I got the Proteks.
