Questions?? Question on priming

Is the intention of priming to get fuel to the carb, or to get fuel into the engine block?
I do not have much success with blocking the exhaust and pulling the pull start, whereas I am more successful disconnecting the line from the exhaust and blowing through it.

Should the priming be done with the throttle closed, or open?

I do not know if my issue is flooding the engine, or starving the engine.

Thanks.

Default Good question

I agree with blowing into the exhaust line to prime the engine. You are doing the right thing. I have noticed with some engines I need to open the throttle just a little to get the fuel to the carb so it won't hurt to open it a little. Stop priming when the fuel gets to the carb. That will prevent flooding the engine.

If you're having trouble, you're probably too lean on the LSN right now. Try coming out a full half turn and see if that helps you out. I do typically give a bit of throttle at cold start (idle up on my radio is set around 15%) however.
