Default Novarossi P5XS

Been away for a while... and have a rookie question cuz I cant remember... what is the purpose of the restrictor in the carb and is it required for good performance? Is there reason to purchase other sizes beyond the 8mm?

Thanks for intelligent replies

Its a tuning option, smaller inserts restict airflow more, less air needs less fuel so the engine can be leaned slightly saving fuel, power band can be changed slightly as well, going to a smaller insert can restrict top end a little & produce slightly more low end.
Stuff I like & use.
JQ Racing 'THE Car' Black Edition, NAA-GODZILLA engine,
Sanwa MT4 radio, NEO+ fuel, MAX & Ultimate Racing Oils,
SWEEP tyres, Savox servo's.
