I just got a IB Prostart as my well used comp heat wires finally gave way after a good 18 months of use and after speaking to Kyle & Scott McBride at the ACT state titles I was lucky enough to pick a prize from the raffle table and over looked alot of other goodies as my heater had broken during the event so I grabed the IB Prostart heater.

My question is are there 12v and 14v versions as there is no markings on the product itself and I didnt really pay alot of attention when opening the product, it seems to take a little longer using my old 12v gel cell than my old one and was wondering can i use a 14.8 4 cell lipo to spead up the process, it the blue unit that i have, I have purchased a new gel cell 12v ( small one maybe 3 inch square ) to see if that works a little better.

Thanks for any response, Savage Sam

Hi sam if your heater was the new 4 cell lipo heater it would say 14v inside on the element .as for using a 4 cell lipo to power your heater quite a few people have told me they have been doing for ages with no problems .i dont recommend it myself .just keep your eye on it if you do :sneaky:

All good Ian, mine has just the number 3 on the inside, used it today to break in a new engine using the new gel cell, 10 minute warm up got the engine to 140f which is a nice start up temp, works great thats for sure, really happy with how it works, cheers for the response, no 4s for me, use it the way its designed i say :)

Guys,

How much battery power do these heaters use? I have been connecting to a 12V power source up till now, but I want to wire it to an additional battery in my starter box. Just curious if they drain the battery hard core or you easily get a day of racing/heating out of it without the fear or killing your LiPo?

BTW: I am looking at using a 5000mah 4S LiPo

5000mah will last you a race meeting no problems . for added safety use a lipo alarm they only cost a few $

I am using a Ultimate Starter box which has an additional outlet to allow me to use the 4s lipo of the starter to connect to the heater. Overall, I generally use no more than 1000mAh in a day for starting my buggy and to warm the engine up.

Is there one of these available for smaller engines?

Like .18 or .15?

The heaters for .21 and .28 seem a little large for the .18 I have.

I've looked around a little for one from CH but can't seem to find it. If IB makes one, that would be good for a little AE .18 project I'm about to break-in.

We're looking at the additions to IB Prostart like the low-profile heaters for those low profile engines.

My current favourite is the limited run of pink heaters. I've been using it for a few months now.
In fact, I've pestered IB Prostart to have a pink one for a long time so it's a wish come true.

For real good quality engine heaters, look no further: IB PROSTART!!!
