I have one with me. If I can get my setup dialed in I will try it tomorrow.

I told him black. He said they sent all their distributors the new blue bearings.... He did not come out and say it but it sounds like he went to a different front bearing.... not sure when. That is when he also asked us about the head shimming and we learned about the .5mm head shimming on 30%. He did mention since I had this much fuel on the motor to just leave at .4mm but recommended on a new motor on 30% to use .5mm.....

Monty Houston installed a 17011 Nova front bearing and TKO rear in the pits at DNC for me and it is running just fine.... Mine took a dump after about 4 gallons in....
fx engine meanwhile is listed as "V2" that means, both bearings are changed by hudy now.

2100 pipes are in the USA. Not much of anything else though. Still no engines. Very few manifolds and we have a couple of parts for the FX's.

I'm still breaking mine in with 30% and the shimming at .5mm. I have about 1 1/2 quarts through it. The first quart was bones break in fuel. When I'm done, should I go back to the factory .4mm shimming or leave it? Which would give me more runtime, if any?

I left the .5 I and it runs great. I would say .5 will yield more runtime but a little less power. I didn't notice any neg effects

Default Break-in Bench

Guys,

I'm in need of a sanity check. The engine doesn't want to start when I set it up for the Hudy break-in bench. Here's what I'm doing: 1) I remove the carb and spin it around to work with the throttle linkage; and 2) attach a Nova Rossi on-road header. I'm using the 2108 FX pipe.

It seems to have no desire to start. I've tried various drills with increasing RPM (using a 2500 RPM now). Anti-clockwise.

Is it possible the Nova Rossi header is too restrictive? It seems like a smaller diameter.

When I install it in the car and use a starter box it fires right up.

Anyway, I wanted to bounce this off of someone else. I'm racing this weekend so I'll probably continue break-in via the car. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Drill should be turning clockwise. We had the same problem with our break in bench at first. The problem we found was that no matter what drill we used it just did not spin the prop fast enough to fire it. We bought an actual prop spinner connected to a 12V battery and it fires right up every time now.

+ on the drill not workng I ended up using my heli starter on 3s lipo and the drill needs to spin counter clockwise as per the Hudy break in bench instructions.

I had the same issue with my break in bench. I'm using a nova header too. Once I spun it with the heli starter it fired right up.

You have to bump the drill on the cone and not just hold it. If you only hold it, it will not start. I recall I run mine in reverse also which is what I think you meant by anti-clockwise. That is with a dewalt corded drill and not cordless. Cordless does not have enough speed.

Drill is too slow. +1 on the 12V prop spinner.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try these things.

Dewalt corded drill was being used but I was NOT doing the bump method. That makes total sense now.

Oh and I was trying to sound British by saying "anti-clockwise" . Been watching too much F1 coverage LOL.
