Bones Brew Fuel
#1

Just checked out their website, www.bonesmotorsports.com, and the fuel mix seems legit. I know some CRE guys are testing it now. Anyone else have some experience with this fuel? How does it compare to Werks fuel (my fuel of choice)?

I can't say how it compares to werks but its great fuel. I have ran it for the last two years and it has been super consistant batch to batch. I have ran Byrons gen 2 and Odonnell speed blend and Bones Brew was better than both of those.

Bones Motorsports is out of Pekin, IL. Bones normally has fuel with him every Saturday during race season for sale at Rivercity Raceway in Peoria, IL.

easy there cowboy !! LOL...... Bones is friend, customer and dealer of our products.....top notch fellow with a very nice blend of fuel.... we are still Werks fuel dealers and run Werks fuel ourselves here at CRE, however for those looking for more options Bones definitely has a quality product I can feel safe to recommend for the Clocked engines...........

Spent some time today running the fuel back to back against Werks fuel. I ran 5 tanks of Werks and then went to 5 tanks of Bones. I quickly noticed how much crisper the Bones was. Had to lean the HSN 7 hrs when I switched to Bones. Throttle response was sharper and snappier while the run time was on average 8-10% better. Thats over 60 seconds people
And the smell......like bubble gum
I have been a big fan of Werks fuel for a couple years now and I can say the Bones is every bit as good, if not better. Need to do more long term testing, but I am sold after this little test.
I was running the Bones 30/8 blend. Brent you have a winner on your hands. Hope you made a lot of this stuff....it will be flying off the shelves soon.

Dan, run time is basically dictated by the amount of combustible material contained in the overall volume of fuel. The combustible materials in hobby fuels are methanol and nitromethane. Lubricants are for the most part non-combustible and the inclusion of them reduces the overall methanol content (as the nitro percentage is fixed i.e. 20% or 30%). So the higher the amount of lubricant, the lower the amount of combustible material (methanol) and the less the run time. The less lubricant, the higher the amount of combustible material (more methanol), the longer the run time. So in essence at a certain point this becomes pure science not speculation. The only way that a fuel would provide an additional 60 seconds of run time over ours is if the oil content of that fuel is 0. Which is not the case as I'm guessing your engine did not seize lol and their web site says that their oil content is 8%. So the only other way that you can gain run time is by running a leaner air fuel ratio. So in essence the engine was in a dramatically different state of tune. Basically this means that you were running the engine too rich and just leaned it down.

Actually after I just posted I did some quick math to double check what I said and by running 0% oil content you would only actually gain 36 seconds of run time. So again either your engine was not tuned properly in the first place when you started your tests or you tank suddenly got a lot bigger
