Winter Break In

Im getting a Traxxas Nitro Sport with a Pro .15 engine for christmas. I am planning on breakin it in during winter break. I have ordered a heat gun and an engine colling head break in sleeve. Unless its below 40 degrees; or if I'm skeptical, 45 degrees; I am not going to break it in that day. I am planning on heating the engine to 180-200 degrees, placing the sleeve around the head to keep heat in, and proceed with the manuals break in instructions. I just want to know if I CAN do this and if it will be OKAY

youll be fine. I broke my engine in last winter and i just used tin foil around the engine head to keep in the heat but it didnt work that well but my engine turned out GREAT! I wish i had a sleeve like you have tho!

I have had good luck doing a handfull of heat cycles befor I even fire the engine up. It lets everything expand and contract and get used to being hot before it starts spinning and doing it internally. Just something I do.

One thing can try to do before you start your engine the first time is to use after run oil and get the internals lubricated. I found this helped the engine turn over a little easier and you have a layer of lubrication when you go to start it and also helps prevent metal on metal contact. I started to do this and had good results on my race engines.
