Buy a large pack of them and throw them away as they get dirty. I started out cleaning my foams, but I'm far too lazy to do that all the time.

I would certainly not be concerned about the colour of the foam. Just get it clean of dirt or like many will say, don't bother cleaning at all.

Once you oil the filter, it won't be white anyhow..

I know that, it will be blue, but I still want a clean look, thats why I want to start with a white filter.

I'd be willing to bet that the bleach degrades the foam in some way or another.

I clean my filters with Maxima foam filter cleaner for motorcross bikes, and if it's not totally white from that I heavely spray it with simple green and it comes out near factors white. Maybe a stain or two. I have to do some tomorrow I'll post a cleaned pic when I am done.

Try the kalgard filter cleaner, it is awesome, it makes a dirty filter look like brand new, no joke.

+1 for kalgard! Use it instead of nitro to clean your filters and then use their air filter oil. They come in 15oz spray cans and last a good while. Here are the links (powersportjunkie.com is the cheapest I've found them online)

Sorry I can't post links yet. Been getting advise from rctech for years just never made an account lol

I could take you through a set of questions that would make you feel the way I feel about this but I'm going to be straight up with you. When you wash air filters in anything you cause the foam on the inside to expand its pours and this is very bad dodo for your engine. Sure it may be alright for one or two tries but it only takes a few moments of dirt ingestion to ruin one of these engines. At this point its just a matter of how valuable your engine is to you and at the end of the day the cheapest piles of crap are 100 dollars and a decent racing engine will run you 190-250-350-500 or even more for on-road..

You want to wash air filters. Wash the outer only. Use fresh inner air filters with a good kind of oil on it, put some grease around the inner filters where it meets up with the housing and you will never have a problem.

This is an old thread.

I didn't use the bleached air filter. I know how much a racing engine costs, I own one etc etc I take good care of my engines and have been using fresh filters.
