I guess no one realizes how easy it would be to adapt this to exhaust the other side or the rear.. Or to simply change the side of the truggy that the radio tray and engine/fuel tank are on. Ya gotta start somewhere. I think they (HPi) were simply showing an idea they had..

Agreed, if they're smart, they'll make it so that the exhaust port can be rotated 180 deg. That way they can make it LH exit for truggy/buggy, and rh exit for monster trucks. Use a unique header to mate up to standard pipes.

At least then they have a common engine, and only have to change one thing, vs. rearranging the "traditional" layout on multiple vehicles....

I just want to see/hear this thing run. If it makes anywhere close to decent HP, I bet it'll be a fun engine.

What would be the advantages compare to traditional glow engine? Last longer, easier to tune?

Fuel wouldn't cost €45 a gallon!!!....

If this engine runs halfway decently, I think it could be huge.. Big threat to nitro, and could maybe regain some ground back from electric...

Even if it's not great at first, there's a basis to improve upon...

Brilliant move by HPI too coming out with not just one model, but a whole series...

the first trick will be changing the carb and running them on methanol like the Baja's do...oh wait a second !

One thing I do not like about gasoline is the smell....nitro is odorless next to gas ........ have a little tiny fuel spill inside the house and wifey is going to tear you a new one..... My girl will put up with brake cleaner, grinder noise, milling machine noise, even breaking in engines inside the house.......... But the last time I was tinkering with the weedeater engine inside I spilled a little gas....That was it, she had a instant headache and booted me outside...she then bitched at me all day long as the smell apparently lingered and bothered her all day .......Gas models will be very very low on the WAF (wife approval factor) ...Gas stinks really bad ! ..

+ 1 on that. Motors would last hella long, no more high priced nitro and $9 golw plugs.

I can see this technology really having an impact in a couple of years. Way to go HB, but if your not careful Traxxas will still this and market it to the masses first....

Could you imagine no more flame outs. We're one step closer to EFI controlled engines!

Regarding the engine in the photo it does look like it has a larger footprint than a standard .21-.28 engine it looks to be around .40?
