EXTREME high speed track
 

Gentlemen.

The 5th. round of the Danish National are taking place on a VERY big track without many jumps etc.. The straight are around 100 meter (300 feet) long :D. Perhaps they will add some chikanes and jumps. Otherwise its like a 1/6 track.
How would you setup your engine for this torture beside richer HSN, higher gear ratio and high speed pipe/shorter manifold? Colder plug, add shimms???

Wow, I'd love to be there for the race. Watching buggies wring out every RPM possible would be fun to listen to.

Setting the HSN richer would actually work to limit maximum RPM.
If the engine is getting proper lubrication, I would still go for a full race tune.

Ceramic engine bearings.

A shorter manifold and high speed pipe. Yes

A modded engine would provide more power to allow taller gearing without sacrificing power at corner exit or short run ups to jumps.

An On-Road engine?

Alow .28 engines, then you can run 3 teeth more on your pinion.

Wow that's what Im talking about 7 port, 21 MOD or a 28 with aggressive gearing for sure. Pipe needs to be a breather

Nah!, I've got a couple of Clocked engines that would be just
stretching there legs out on that track. Unlike the big D.O.
that their used to running on, at least there are a coulpe of
places on that track where they can catch there breath.

That's a prime example of the differences between European track designs and our US tracks which are more Super Cross style. Europe very few jumps, high speed and more flowing. US a lot of jumps, more technical and relatively low speed. Euro style tracks are perfect for our old B7-Pro engine, that thing just pulled for days! All that I can say is gear up, run your top at a race tune not rich as RPM will be important on this track, coldest plug that you can get away with (#6 or possible #7 if you can swing it), top end pipe design and just go for it. I'm not sure if run time is going to be a factor on a track like that as I highly doubt anyone will get 10 minutes on a tank so you might even want to look into possibly getting a rally game engine for the better mid and top it will have.

Here in Denmark we actually has several US style tracks, and what a joy to race on. This one is nothing like any other ;). But then again its a lot of fun to race one different layouts.

2 speed and big bore engines are not allowed in buggies. In truggy you can use variomatic if you wants and up to 11 ccm engine! :lol:

Better go with colder plug and race tune as you recommends.

Perhaps a BIIIG venturi (or no venturi at all) would be great?! I got 1800 RPM increase when I went from 6 to 8 mm on my HPI.

A On-road engine might be the ticket. I run mostly on a similar track and use a fully modded Picco P9-R with one tooth extra on the bell. It suffers slightly from soft bottom punch (compared to a P7-R), but sub0.4mm squish and 34% fuel (by weight) makes it quite good. If it grips when the engine starts to pull some wheelies will occur with the buggy. Runt time is around 9-9,5min.

find a motor that will pull 50,000 rpm's and not distort the rod or bushings and go for broke!!!!

I was thinking an on-road engine too. Just swap out the front bearing to a double rubber shielded one and your good to go. But would this work? I mean other than power characteristics and the cost difference what actually stops someone running an on-road engine in a buggy? The on-roads are built for constant 45,000+rpm pounding's. They do run 2 speeds though, buggy class can not.

Tell you what though if there was ever a track that engine power mattered it would be this one. Best engine and tuner wins on this track!

You can always fit an offroad cooling head if you think the high rpm and not that much speed as an onroad will give cooling problems. And that is more like a Rallygame engine, that is more in between an offroad and onroad

I'm pretty sure no one is going to use an on-road engine for that race - even though it might work very well.
