Default What other pipes are out there???

sup fellas, im in the middle of another truggy build, this one being for myself, so im trying to get an edge over the other Picco p3/jp-4 combos ive put together for my crew of guys.

My question to you is, what other pipes are out there that match to .28 motors?Something on a jp-4/jp-3 level as far as power placement and build quality?
Its just a jumper truggy with a jl factory team picco and i know the motor already is going to have the edge up on the pullstart P3's these guys got, but i really need to ensure my spot on the top for these guys atleast.

I havent raced yet, but the idea has been festering in my brain this winter, so thats not out of the question.

I see names like novarossi and werks being thrown around, witch i know to be great companies, but i always assumed the pipes were always designed around there engines.

i know its a newb question, but the last time i ran nitro, i was 16, and couldnt afford anything but rtr, so help me out here guys.

For the most part you are pretty much correct that each manufacturers pipe works best on their engines.. So, the JP series of pipes will be your best bet for the picco .28.. But I'll say this if your thinking of racing, don't use that gas hawg .28. Get yourself a nice .21 and get after it..

i completly agree with you on the motor size for racing, but when i say i might race, its a big maybe.

My main concern is a quality, high performance jumping truggy, and right now fuel consumption is taking a back seat to performance.

But what other pipes should i be looking at in general?I know losi's HT pipe does well, as im sure others do too, but when i think of a jp series, i think that it would be a decent match on any mid priced engine. Are there others out there like that?

I've ran the Werks 2013 pipe on a OS .28 and it was crazy. The 2013 pipe makes power on anything I've put it on. Has a really kick ass sound too! The only other pipe that seems to wake motors up is the RE10 from Losi. Aside from pipes that are made for their respected motors that is.

Like he said, 2013 makes power on anything but the all time KING of top end power on any motor is the good old 9886.

Don't forget the Kings of horsepower and topend,
the the MSR 1005 and the Bullit 1005 tuned pipes.
The Tsais T-32 is also a great pipe to run on a .28
engine.

+1
Nova 9886 or Dynamite HS 086 pipe. 086 pipes usually are very good on Picco's as they have lots of bottom end anyway. 086 = very powerfull combo.

The OFNA 086 hands down. I have tried many Pipe/Manifold combos with my Modified and Stock Picco .28. The dynamite 086 SHOULD be the same but not as great as the OFNA 086. However the Dynamite 086 manifold works great with the OFNA 086 pipe. Weird combo but it is awesome. I also ran a RC hub manifold for Savages and it has had the strongest low end punch. I have made 9 1/2 minutes with a Drag Modified Picco .28 matched with a 7.5 carb insert.

There is only one pipe thats beat RC manifactors, thats is the ERCM pipe, but it is not allowed in races. It is loud!

Here is the link for the B2R Manifoldhttp://rchub.com/Merchant2/merchant....Code=manifolds

so a nova 9886 and a ofna/dynamite 086 are really the 2 other pipes i should look at.

Are either of these pipes a better fit than the jp series for this factory team picco?

i was ebaying the 2 pipes above, i like the dynamite as far as looks.I like the reinforced stinger.

I have a jp3 header (brand new), will that be a draw back if matched to the dynamite pipe?

Beleive me Neal, nothing more would make my life complete than a clockwerks picco, but ill never use the potential of the motor. When that time comes, its only going 1 place, and thats in your hands.

When you say throw a 086 on it, is that the ofna or dynamite?

Most people agree that the ofna 086 makes a bit more power then the Dynamite 086...The Dynamite 086 is (a lot) more durable tho. Especially the hardcoated one. Something to keep in mind aswell

edit:
part of the difference in the Ofna and Dynamite pipe is the Ofna square header that comes with the pipe. I would get a compete set (either Dynamite or Ofna) both can be had for $ 55 or less a set at A-main.
