Revo
The Revo and Stadium truck was a Damon Palm creation. He was the first to use my head in the Kyosho ST and then the RC10GT2 I believe.
Here's a video, turn up the soud to hear the motor rev. http://www.vidilife.com/index.cfm?f=...8A-48E4-A603-4 Nolan |
We're just glad to know that you're making good progress.
I first drove a RC bike like 15 years ago; it was a Kyosho electric. Going straight was easy, the hard part was trying to make slow tight turns without layng it down. There was an optional lighter weight for the front wheel for reduced gyro effect which required yet more skill to make those "dive-on-the-inside" overtaking moves, but you soon got used to it. Then there was that Italian bike with the .21 OPS on-road engine! Now that was scary!!!

I don't have as much spare time to work on it these days but am going forward with it guys.
I just spent the weekend at Milestone Raceway Park in Riverside California testing two bikes. It looks promising but there is a lot to learn and still much work to be done. The air cooled head is working great but is too expensive to produce in large numbers. I may have another solution to bring the machine time down. I can't even drive this thing yet. It is totaly different from cars so I suggest everyone interested should look at the OTO and new Venom 1/8 scale or NF or TT 1/5 electric bikes to learn with. I know I will have to do the same to keep from wrecking my prototypes. Thanks, Nolan |

Speaking of cylinder heads.... Great Planes just shipped the rest of the 30 I ordered, so I will be able to pick them up Thursday. Then I just need to bond the port plugs in them and get them off to my machinist for modification. 1 step closer!

I'm the one building the XXXNT Ad2 and it will be the last part I need! I'm looking forward to finishing the project and hopefully it will run the same as yours buddy. It's amazing how well the truck was getting around on the video you posted. Awesome work and thanks for sticking with the project in making a truly one off creation for us thumper junkies!!! |

Keep us posted on your 4-Stroke AD2 project. I'd be very interested to see how you accomplished it. Your motor mount and clutch setup would be of particular interest! :D |

I forgot to mention, I was going through a bunch of my dad's DV tape and found footage of the GT2 running with Nolan's head, a wide-open exhaust, and a CV-R slide carb. I'll get it uploaded to YouTube so you can see just how much power can be had from the FS26. To be honest, there's more power available than what the videos show, because I hadn't tried bigger bore carbs at that point, and I've never tried out the .30 piston/sleeve/ring. What's in the video is quite simply too much for a 2wd gas truck. My lap times with the new setup are way faster, but it's nice to know there's plenty of hot-rodding potential.:sneaky::D |
For the 30 conversion, won't you need a FS30 head as well? Makes sense since the bore is larger in a 30.

No deposits necessary. Mr. Home Equitiy Loan took care of that.

Nope. The FS30 head and the FS26 head are the same part number.:sneaky:
|
Hmmm.... But that would leave a small gap between the head button & the sleeve!:weird:

Yes, there will be a slight edge where the corner of the gasket area will be exposed, but it obviously works fine with the 30 sleeve since OS sells the FS30 with the .26 head.
Also, I want to let you guys know I haven't forgotten about posting the videos. I've been busy managing entries for our club's big azz race coming up at the end of the month. Also been spending lots of time working on drawings and prototypes with my machinists. I got a couple of the completed flywheels last night, and they are SO much better than the prototype one I have been using. I'm working on getting my first production kit put together for a local racer who will be running it at our race. It will still have some proto parts, because I don't have all the production parts in-hand, but it's as close to being a complete kit as I can get right now. I'm pretty excited! Also, my dad will be at the race, so he'll get video of both trucks, possibly running at the same time in the same race:nod: |
Update -
I finalized the muffler design and sent the drawings off the the machinist - I should have bids on the muffler pieces soon. http://www.rcccs.com/style_emoticons/default/yeah.gif http://www.rcccs.com/style_emoticons/default/yeah.gif Also, last night (or should I say 2AM this morning) my brother and I finished the fan mount and pulley prototypes. I had him make 2 of everything, so Brandon (the local fast-guy driver who's helping me with setup and testing) gets one for the Hank Perry 240. Those were the last parts that needed to be designed, prototyped, and tested. http://www.rcccs.com/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif I also got the completed flywheels, and they're pretty sweet. Fan belt drive pulley and flywheel all in one part, and it fits perfectly on the crank. No more tearing up the front engine bearing with an out of balance flywheel! Progress is good, even if it does turn me into a sleep-walking zombie! |
Good to hear DP, one day i hope to get one. I had a move and racing is on hiatus due to work, but hope to race next year
