Exhaust Gaskets - engine/pipe compatibility
 

I just wanted to ask a simple question... So simple that i wasn't sure if i should start a new thread but maybe there are more people having the same problem. :)

Every time i take the pipe off of my engine the OFNA gasket is broken and has to be replaced. I want to try a different brand now. On amain the Fiorini ones are the most often bought so i assume they are good quallity. Will they fit JP3 pipe?

I'm asking because I had a gasket that was included with JPX. 21 and it didn't fit the pipe so not every .21 compatible gasket fits every engine/pipe.

I just bought some from avid for I think 2$ a piece. Haven't used them yet, but someone else might know if they are any good or not.

I'm shopping on amain so it would be easier for me if it will be available there.

I've had great luck with the Novarossi gaskets, and RB are the same, but orange, they come in packs of like 5-6 I think for like 12 bucks. They last longer. And make sure they are clean, engine, and pipe too.... and use a bit of water to slide the header on it will dry and stay put.....Put stronger springs on the header to prevent it from moving......

i like to put some oil om my gaskets when i mount them. That way they wont burn to the pipe and the pipe can move freely without ripping the gasket. A set of novarossi gaskets lasted the entire season that way for me, no leaking either :nod:

RB are on back order... Plus they are the most expensive. :D

How they compare with Fiorini? Are they worth extra money? Again the same question: will they fit the JP3 pipe?

Picco based motors use a different gasket than everyone else. You will probably need to stick with the OFNA ones.

All the pipes are basically the same. It's your motor that is different from everything else.

Use OS or RB. The best quality. They last longer... period.

Contact these guys, they have a heavy duty exhaust gaskets to suit Picco engines. This will fix your problems.

Old thread I know, but I have the same issue with exhaust gaskets not lasting more than a race day. I have tried oil, no oil, etc. I see splits and slight tears in many brands. Any recommendations? Thank you

On Aliexperss there is a seller RCAWD, he sells silicone gaskets for about 2.50 for 5 pieces. Cheap and they work fine so no pain to exchange them more often.

When I put the rubber gaskets on the engines I make sure I use a little lube, it keeps them from having friction when putting on, and then when I take the pipe off! When taking off it’s a risk, most of the time if the engines been used it’s going to be dry on the gasket and there’s nothing you can do it’s just going to rip, but if u look online there’s plenty of places u can replace them for less then a few bucks and it’s worth it to know your engines sealed. Just replace it. It has to be replaced if it’s ripped. That’s just the nature of the hobby. If u use it knowing it’s ripped just expect yourself to be tuning all day on your needles. After almost everyday I run or two days of running I tear down my engine, I clean everything and there’s always a ton of crap inside that has to be cleaned and I use vasoline on my air filter so I know I’m doing my best to keep dirt out, I clean outside the engine especially the carb area to make sure it’s not sucking air threw or around the carb boot. These engines are machines, sucking air like you wouldn’t imagine and they have so many places they can leak so your best way of handling it is clean clean clean. It also makes figuring out an issue easier when the engine isn’t being consistent. If u clean your engines meticulously like I’m saying I promise you will never have issues. You will always catch problems before they start causing issues.

I don't care what NO ONE say, there is a quality difference between those cheap eBay ones and ones from the manufacture. This isn't something I see often and don't replace often. I've never had issues with Reds, OS or Avid gaskets. I have about 5 gallons on my engine and the gaskets are good.
