NEW OS 21 XZ-B and Speed XZ-B
#49
I can't wait I'll be back ordering XZ-B, the speed I'll wait, just got a close to new JP MoD VSpec which puts the speed to shame.... Anyone who has one will agree. Not the same top but a bottom/mid of 28 and 13 min run times.

Nice mills,
I wondered what the new V-Spec replacement would look like. I wonder if they used the .25 block on them. Newer mill than the Ninja. Just a thought.
Ran a V-Spec and a EB Mods V-Spec and the old Mag head Speed. I have to say they were some nice mills. Didn't get alot of fuel through them so I don't know how long they would/could have lasted. I have seen a few V-Specs not last as long as I thought they would. Not sure if the crank was the reason, but seems to be a possibility. As for "Pro" guys preferring OS? I'm sure some do and some don't. Depends on who is asked on what day. I do think that OS and Novarossi are two companies that many others seem to base their mills off of. That says alot to me. Does it mean that the price is worth it? Could be.
Frank,
You know getting the "new" mills won't help you beat Doogie. You still have to drive. LOL.

OS Engines
I am very excited to see these new Motors out on the track. They have done what many have expected, that is using the 28 sized (Ninja & XZ.25) crankcase, and we will probably find that the XZ-B is a 3 port same as the V-spec, and the XZ-B Speed will be a 5 port IMO, with similar power characteristics to a Ninja combined with a Speed Worlds II.
Those who are sceptical about paying for an OS motor have probably not tried one, and/or have listened to a few dramatical stories about v-spec bearing/rod failures early in their life.
All I can say, is that after getting a VZ-B V-spec, I will not go to another motor manufacturer in a hurry. My v-spec has done nearly 50 litres of fuel now, with original rod/piston/sleeve, and only 2 bearing changes in that time.
I have been so happy with the way the motor performs, and how easy & predictable the carby is to tune. You cannot comment on these engines until you've owned one.
So happy infact, that i have a Nija JX, and now an XZ.25 too, which are both awesome motors. Easy to break in, they idle nicely, perform well, economy is great, and so reliable. I can safely say that they have never flamed out for any reason other than running out of fuel.
I hope to get one of the XZ-B's as soon as they are in the shops, and it'll be a sad day to retire the ever faithful VZ-B V-spec.......

Frank,
You know I just had to knock you down a couple of pegs. LOL. It's all good, though if it doesn't work this time maybe you should take up sweater knitting like BR. I know about the series. If memory serves me right some guy with a 100 dollar D8T and Werks B5 Beat both of you guys in Truggy. Sure was fun to watch. Maybe once you get one or two that are worked over you might be able to lay the smack down. Finally.

I don't think OS does anything better than Nova Rossi having owned both. They are both very good mills. MY OS sucked big time though. I know that is not typical for there product though. The OS rep did give me a new rod and shirt. I would rather have had a new engine for my headache with it. I think it was a carb issue on mine that ended up being a rod and crank issue. Sold it with a newer carb and havn't heard back yet. I was told it ran better. From what I understand he is very happy with it. A friend gave me a newer carb for it after I was fed up and moved on. OS makes a very good mill.

So you've run the $200 mills to compare then ?
I've run all of em, OS, RB, NR, GO, Alpha, and at this current moment in time I'm afraid to say that the Alpha is the biggest "bang for buck engine" out there !!
Sure some of the other engines have more power, but can you use it on the track ?
I can hang with ANY engine on the straight, clear all the big jumps and pit at 10's all day long, so my, as you say "cheap $200 engine", does what a $400 engines does, meaning I have an extra $200 to spend on tyres, and lets face it..............tyres are what count when it comes to winning races !!
I'm not bothered about looking "cool" with the latest "fashion engine", just more concentrated on set up and tyres since that's what wins.
