I raced my Proto 7 for the first time this weekend. I had Neal break it in for me and I have put about half gallon through it. I will say this thing is crazy. I have never heard an engine scream the way the Proto does. It is very controllable though. It is still tight i cant wait till this thing finally loosens up. Thanks Neal

a dent can hurt performance... of course how badly depends on how badly dented the pipe becomes....

the OFNA 086 is a budget oriented pipe that offers impressive performance on some engines...its very loud and raspy sounding...Has a real nasty ring to its exhaust note

the 9886 SS is more refined...it is quieter then the OFNA 086 and its power is smoother ...... Still makes big HP but is more refined then the OFNA 086

I will have to save up for a 9886 ss then

Is a 9901 ss good for low end on a truggy? I know people usually use them on buggies but have seen a few on truggies. How would it compare tot he 9886ss?

What`s the deal with the antifreeze bath?How`s it done and what`s the purpose?
I run 086 on the P5 buggy,and the 9886 on the Bonito truggy and both are great pipes I don`t see the need to spend more money on anything else but the 086 my 2 cents.JB

If you buy a cheap crock pot with anti freeze it keeps your pipes clean over time they can build up a black residue. when you store for a long time it can flake then when you run things get moist these flakes can enter from the exhaust port into your engine. Doing this keeps your pipes clean it takes off all the nitro burn gum. I personally use mothers when ever I store I shoot nitro cleaner to take out all the residue before storing

9901 has great low end for truggy with the P5 engine and 021 header. Only setup I've used so far in Truggy with Nova engines. I don't lack for power anywhere with this setup. Its got the rip to jump any short or late run-up jumps.

that setup works for sure........... but it is one of the most conservative setups you can choose from the Nova lineup......Switching to the 41001 or 41019 manifold will add a whole pile of spice to the performance, you will see crisper bottom and a much stronger top end as well as a little nastier exhaust note......We recently have been testing all the different pipes and manifold combos...tho of course we mainly test modified engines, we have also been testing on a few stock engines.........Form what we are seeing many of the Nova's do run crisper and make more poop when run on the shorter square/double bend manifolds...The curved 41021 style manifolds tone the engines down noticeably ... On the radar gun the 41019 and 41001 will show 4 MPH or better down the straight then the 41021 will ... straight has a inside line of approx 1150-1usually 60 ft

just this weekend I put my modified Plus4 on a 9901/41019 combo and it was off the charts....I have never seen a 9901 pump like that before.... I was thoroughly impressed actually !

Hey Neal, talk to me about a few engines. I go back and forth between OS Speeds and Nova-4btt engines. I love them both. My experience is the 4btt gets a little better run time. As my driving skills have gotten better I thirst for a little bit more power now. The 4btt is super smooth and great run times, but I look for a little more power. Compare how all 3 of these engines sort of compare feel in the clocked versions:

1. Ninja B02
2. Nova Plus4-btt
2. OS Speed .21

Just curious on your thoughts?

Thanks for the info, how about the 41005 manifold on the 9901 for the most torque at the bottom? How would the 9901/41005,41001, or 41019 compare to a 9886 ss with the same manifolds?

Ninja is snappy and strong..... very well rounded and nice to drive

BTT is more dynamic, with a little more pop and a little more RPM then the Ninja ( tuned pipe can really make or break this engine....mild to wild )

OS Speed is much like the Ninja......maybe slightly less initial grunt, but more dynamic midrange blossom as compared to Ninja....

honestly the longer 41005 manifold makes the engine feel lazy.....doesn't seem to increase torque any at all IMO

9886 revs a little better...9901 punches harder initially.......

What engine would you recommend for the ercm pipe for buggy? I love this pipe because out sounds so good also which header with it? Looking for runtime without losing power

Alright sounds good, I will be getting a 9901 SS w/ 41001 manifold and see how I like it.

Next thing is a new motor, trying to decide between a Proto 7, clocked Bonito or clocked Roma. I want something with lots of grunt, revs hard, and is fasttttt, what would be better? I feel like the roma would feel a little lazy, but I only saw a stock on, not a clocked one.
