Doing well Jay. The F11 is quite sassy. Power is instantaneous. Don't have alot of fuel through it yet. I believe it will do better with a long needle carb on our tracks. It gets on the pipe really quick. Will know more soon, our season is kicking off!

I just wanted to give a shout out and say thank you to John and Neal for the awesome Serpent/Novarossi buying experience. I purchased a Serpent 811T , best truggy around, with a clocked Bonito. I stumbled across there web site searching for a small aluminum wing mount that not a single web site on the planet had in stock except CRE. Then noticed they modified engines and I wanted one. From the very start of the sale experienced, Neal called me and talked to me about engines as I'm a newb to nitro, then John took over and helped me every step of the way answering over 60 emails quickly in a 3 week period and they built my Truggy and installed all my nitro parts and servos. OUTSTANDING customer service all the way through. John was even so kind as to trade me a serpent towel for my Serpent body since I don't like those bodies. A few minor problems with the build but I'm still happy I was able to pay them to build it for me as I didn't have the time. And John did offer to fix the problem as well.
The clocked Novarossi is AWESOME...and its not even fully broke in yet. I see why they call it Bonito, it really is BEAUTIFUL! John even introduced me to a local experienced racer who has been helping me out with my tuning and racing, Bill has been a real blessing and making the experience more fun and enjoyable. Far less stress on me with all his help
Working with CRE has been a great experience and these guys know the Serpents well, so if your thinking about this platform just do it. Both my Serpent Truggy and E buggy handle so nicely and are extremely durable!
I'm pulling 2nd & 3rd places with my truggy regularly and I'm usually running middle of the pack, not the front. This truggy handles so nicely.
I highly recommend CRE to anyone looking to the Serpent platform or nitro engines, these guys are top notch and I will be doing all my engine business with them.

On another note, I have some Bonito questions for you Neal. You know Bill Mason has been helping me with all my tuning and teaching me about nitro. Bill has been awesome, thanks so much to John for introducing us.
Bill told me I should replace my piston after about 2 gallons of breaking in? If this is true I need to buy one of those from you guys.
Also I was curious how long this engine will last roughly. Bill had mentioned maybe 8 gallons. I remember when I spoke with you on the phone I think you said roughly 2 seasons. As much fun as I'm having I think I could go through 8 gallons in a few months
Bill said with a quality engine like this I could probably ship it back to you for a rebuild to get more life out of it when it gets to that point. Is this true?
Thanks

Replace the rod after 2-3 gallons yes ( tho this all comes down to how hard you use it, some people don't need to, others do.... )...... Lifespan also is the same thing.......These are very well built engines and are capable of lasting very good if they are taken care of.......... John's Bonito has a full season of hard use on it and only shows 0.0005" wear on the crankpin...We will replace the rod and bearings before this next season....But other then that the engine is still in fantastic shape......the piston and sleeve still have plenty of interference and lots of life left......High grade engines, but no guarantees as anything can happen..

I bought the Bonito with the ceramic bearing, so will that need to be replaced after a "season" ?
If I may make a business suggestion, it would be nice if you guys include an engine maintenance plan or information, a simple print out, for us nitro newbs. I had no idea I would need to replace a piston for example.

You keep saying seasons.... je je je... that is a pretty broad time frame. Can you convert your seasons to gallons please

However I am hesitant to offer any kind of predicted lifespan on any engine...as there are simply far too many factors involved in how long they will last.......... How many gallons ? really depends on how you tune and run the engine over its lifespan...Myself I can feel safe to say I could get 10 gallons from a Bonito's piston/sleeve before needing a pinch, and probably 20 gallons before the crankpin went out.....rods I tend to change as i see fit and if it is convenient at a particular time.....bearings I like to go by feel...fronts I usually change out if its convenient..as in I am taking the engine apart for cleaning, I will usually change out the front bearing.......
It all comes down to how the engine is treated....suck dirt just once and you can kill a engine in 5 minutes..... take good care of a engine and they can last for many gallons.... But unfortunately due to the nature of these engines there just is no way to predict how long they are going to last with any sort of accuracy........I could rattle off some estimated numbers to maybe make people feel better, but unfortunately it would not be helping anyone any.....
In the end the Novarossi are among the very best built nitro engines money can buy.....under all equal conditions they are among the longest lasting engines you can buy today..........they are not indestructible by any means, but they are about as close as your going to get...

LOL
yes..we have spring, summer, fall and winter...summer is usually about 5 months here....
year we ran the track 3 days per week for 4.5 months....we ran the Bonito pretty much every day that we were there....Not sure how many gallons that is, as we really don't count....If i were to guess I would say an easy 6 gallons per engine......
