First I would like to thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts on the engine....And I am very happy/relieved to see to see that you like them so much LOL...I am glad you took your time and ran some fuel thru the engines before you came here and posted too much...As I wanted you to give your real evaluation without feeling pressured or put on the spot.....I also didn't in any way want you to feel obligated to like the engines, if you liked them, I wanted you to like them for real ..... So In the end all i can say is Awesome !

I ran my new cre engines hard on the track yesterday. The p5 was a real screamer it impressed many. Theres a large triple in the middle of the track that can be challenging at times to clear if you are not set up right. I have had issues with it too but double single is just not as fast and in a track with mid 19 sec lap times ever second counts. The p5 made this jump easy. No matter where my car was I could nail it and clear it with ease. After the race was over I let a buddy drive my buggy and he couldn't believe how easy it was to clear that jump. He is a huge OS speed guy and the exact words out of his mouth were "man this engine has tons of power and it's soo smooth on delivery" I couldn't have said it better myself.
The bonito is an animal inthe truggy. The from lifts off the ground when you stab it ands and thing on that tripple jump. Driving the bonito is becoming addicting as it sings and delivered an evperience unlike any other. Bottom is crazy, top is off the chart and the midrange is elevated too. It's like hitting the NOS button at every turn. If you had ever hit at button you know what I mean  my pit guy told me a buddy standing next to him pitting in the truggy main asked what the hell kinda engine was I running in that truck. The bonito runs great. I must say I had a had many parts that I managed to bend as competition was getting fierce. The track was eating cars for snacks. I even saw a busted fioroni alum top plate on a Mugen and it wasn't just cracked it was in 4 pieces. So I was working on my cars a lot throughout the day but I haven't had that much fun at the track in a while. Looks like the purple engines are staying in my cars :D |
Neil,
Getting ready to place an order through Steve S. Getting a bunch o stuff but with the Bonito am also getting the a clutch assembly and pipe. So question is, for MBX6t, which M2C shoes? (ran mediums/1.0 with b5) and on the pipe, do I really need to spend the extra dough on the Nova or does the Ofna 086 offer the same performance? I have never owned either before. Thanks, Ken Bekar |
BONITO!!!!
Just wanted to give a report on my bonito. I had a race yesterday at Dixon's raceway and I got there kinda late and by the time I got my stuff set up and my truggy ready to go it was time for the heats to start, so I had a buddy of mine help me put a quick tune on it before the heats started. It took him about 1 minute to get a bench tune it. The only other adjustment I made on it was to richen the top and bottom end about 1 or 2 hours. The needle settings ended up being flush on both ls and hs. The pipe I was using was an ofna 086 and my clutch set up was a m2c with hard shoes 2 1.0's and 2 .90's. I'm running werks fuel. I can't tell you how much I love this motor, it would be really hard to run anything else after feeling how powerful and smooth this engine is. I love it! If your thinking about getting one for truggy, do yourself a favor and get 1 or 2. I'm going to psycho nitro blast in march so after that I will be able to give a more detailed report. Thank you Neal and John for making this engine what it is and for all the little extra things you do for your customers. It doesn't get any better.

Thanks, Ken Bekar The Nova pipe works awesome.....the OFNA pipe is good too, but unfortunately out of stock....but have no fear over the Nova 9886, it absolutely rings on the Bonito... |

Raced my CRE P5 today at ET motopark. Home of the 240' front straight. OMG my P5 was pulling away from everything including 2 speeds a C6 and a Ninja. The track was super dusty and would not hold water for more than 5 minutes which just does not bode well for my driving style. I was so used to Fear Farm and the extream traction it has I tried 3 different tires before settling for soft Citiblocks for the main. Qualifying was horrible and I started 9th overall in a field of 16. I did the best I could under the circumstances and was just not used to drifting through the turns and feathering my throttle. Managed to finish 4th in the main after the coolest wipe out ever which also stalled my engine. Tom Stober took the win with a CRE B5. The P5 is just so perfect I'll be running them in buggy and truggy for the foreseeable future.

Neal you must have some cabin fever going on:D
Going to be running the Plus 4 this weekend at our second points race. Bought some Werks fuel and put a few tanks through it to do a quick retune. Love how well it coats the engine! |
