I will attest to the Drool, He got me last night with a real good one.:(

Last night I changed my Stock JL carb with a Picco Evo 2 carb and HOLY CRAP!! what a difference. Needles stayed put and I was not chasing my tune all night tweeking back and forth between rich and lean. This is the hot ticket if any of you are having problems with the Stock JL carb on your clocked JL switch it for a picco carb and hold on to your hats! I was so excited I called Neal at Midnight. He dont sleep anyway so I wanted to tell him what a difference a good carb made on that engine. I 'm a happy man now

Really?? This will be good to know if mine starts acting up;) James, does it retain the smooth power that the JL can put down, or is it more explosive? ..because I really do like the smoothness of this mill.

It was more explosive, but still very smooth. Thats the best way for me to put it. I just messed with my Throttle EXPO and it got it right back to where it was with the stock carb. If your stock carb is fine then leave it be. Mine was crap and it really ruined the engine which I have been telling Neal is my favorite of all his engine choices for a buggy. This engine is now perfect Nid! Run times went up also. I flamed at 10 minutes on the nose, with the stock 8MM venturi that comes on the Picco carb. I could not get more than 8 Min on the stock carb, but that was probably because my tune was all over the place

Just a little vid with the Clocked JL at the track in my D8T. Track was so slick that I couldn't open it up, but shows how usable the power curve and mid range is. If I tried to put some power down, it would get really squirley.

Here's another quick on-board video of my SC8 running part of tank 14. I'm unable to get to the track for another month so I'm stuck rippin' up and down the streets and grassy patches. I was doing full speed drifts around corners, which looks pretty cool from the 'driver's' perspective. It also had enough power to leave a pile of blackies on the smoother pavement.

This engine has the new mods, and is turning out to be quite impressive. The top speed, even at tank 14 is scary fast. I still can't turn it over with the flywheel, so it really hasn't dropped it's nuts yet (..well, maybe one nut :D ) With the JP4 pipe, it seems to rev to the moon. I also finally figured out my audio problem ( I was having issues with the pitch on my previous on-boad vids, it sounded like the engine was on helium, but now that's been sorted out in this vid )

I'm still running the stock carb, so far so good..I maybe got a good one. The engine idles down right away even after several high speed passes.

Truggy engine..

Hey Neal I know that you are a big fan of your JPX and JL engines for Truggy use, however how do you feels about a Clocked B5?

I run a stock B5 and love it but I am curious about the JL after reading so much about it on this thread.

How do run time compare between the engines? How do the engine characteristics compare?

Thanks!

Actually the modified B5 is about as fine of a Truggy engine as your going to find... It has all kinds of crazy power, smooth trigger feel, fantastic top end and runtimes that would make most econo engines jealous ...Very easy a 10 minute pitstop engine, some of my customers are reporting back times in excess of 14 minutes per tank......All around a fantastic engine....

I bought one of Neal's clocked B5's 3 weeks ago for the rcps alberta final and put it in a Losi 8T 2.0. Right out of the box the thing ran flawlessly, having Neal & Nick in my pits didn't hurt either.
I can't say enough great things about Neal or this motor ........... good top & bottom end but the runtime is amazing. Last week at our club race I ran a 10 min b-main and came off with 3/8 of a tank left! Same runtimes again this weekend. I'm gonna try for 15 min next weekend under race conditions!

dreaux 09-08-2010 09:27 PM

finally got enough fuel through my jpx, and i was patient and it took about 1/2 to 3/4 gallon to fully break in. And i pushed it pretty hard , pretty much took everything it would give me. Today when i fired it up, it ran like raped ape! Throwing around my mugen buggy like a rag doll. I am so pumped, it is exactly what i was looking for. Tunes very easy, revs to the moon and idles all day. I am not a pro. But it doesn't matter. I got what i wanted!

Thank you NEAL and team clockworks:cool: The dude never sleeps. All he want's to do is help in any way. Just fantastic!

Oh, short header is the ticket:D

Tuned up a friends CRE modded B5 today. He had the wrong pipe and plug in the engine and it still was the wildest damn thing i've seen run. It broke the glue loose on 2 sets of tires. This thing will test the limits of the losi truggy's rear r&p and gearbox. Looking forward to running one, i think? It's a little nasty for me, lol.
