Which reds engine is most similar to the original r5t? I’m looking for something very similar with just a little more bottom end but similar top end and fuel mileage.

According to TNS's dyno, a stock R5R makes over 3hp, and his modified one 3.3. According to same dyno, big blocks make from 3.3 to near on 4hp stock.
I believe the Reds dyno numbers...

At stock, if the Lunga is truly 3.5hp, a modified could be knocking on the door of 4hp. I wonder how the top end would be compared to a 28-8 or LRP32 or Picco 28 5TX.

Is there anything recommended to get with the engine? I am trying to find a head heater in stock also... I have mostly ran electric the past 2 years but am trying to get back into nitro. My old os engine isn't working out so I ordered the reds combo after reading and watching some youtube videos about them. I am really excited to try the reds engine, but am looking for any extra advice!
Run a OS P4. You can find them everywhere and are a solid plug. More stable than a P3. Tune doesn't seem to fluctuate as much as the P3.

The current WR5 is the latest version of the R5T. Diamond coated crank and back plate, newer carb, new black cooling head which is lighter than the previous versions, dust system between the button and sleeve/ crankcase. Don't get the High Efficiency (HE) version if you want strong bottom end.

Hard to know for sure, since cooling heads can be interchanged. Since the WR5 and WRX long stroke engines have just been made available, I know that he ran the R5T Team Edition in truggy at DNC, Silver State, Nationals, etc. I have only seen Cole Ogden race the WRX at Fall Brawl a few weeks ago.

Pretty similar. If I remember correctly, the Worlds engine did not have the DLC coated crank, nor the newer / lighter cooling head. The WR7 has been ported a bit differently which gives it more bottom end power.

According to NB, he ran the R7 Evoke V3 at the DNC. I know in 2016 he ran the R5T.

So.....why would one run a WRX over the WR7 in a buggy? Or would you even do that???

The WR7 is intended for buggy. Lots of power, but still smooth enough and controllable.
The WRX is intended to be the most powerful REDS engine for truggy. Of course you can run either one in a buggy, but more power does not always equal faster lap times.

And further to that, its also track dependant. If you look at the power curve of the wr7, peak power is later in the rpm range, meaning suited to higher speed/open/flowing style tracks, and possibly tracks where excessive wheelspin would be an issue. run the wrx on higher traction surfaces with short run ups to big jumps etc. Both the engines make good power, so you could tune either with gearing to adapt to track style too.
