I talked to AB Mods on the phone today. He said he got a JX21 that is a little different. A full report later on hopefully from Master Blevins.

This sound very appealling...

To bad the race season is nearly over for me

Just a darker color on the head is all it is basically. Same GREAT engine. :tire:

Unsober1 09-19-2009 03:30 PM

I thought that gray head kinda slowed down the motor a bit too.....

LOL

Spent this morning breaking in my .18 for Fontana. About 4 million laps up and down the road in front of my office at very moderate speed. I ran about 5 tanks through it with a sock and some tape on the head and then went and got some lunch. Then I ran 5 more tanks through it for another 4 million laps....I hope that's enough!

Even at VERY light throttle it's obvious this little demon has a bunch of power. I'll have the body on for this weekend and will hopefully come away with an idea of this engines potential

Three ABMods engines, hopefully three world records.

Hi there Adam

I ran your prepped ToroNero for the first time yesterday (dropped in the car for its maiden run in a race with 80 drivers). It was superb, if only a bit too strong at low range for my throttle finger, I then put a 6.5mm restrictor on it and it was marginally less grunty and way more adapted to my average skills. I also dropped a nova C6T plug into it as these are plugs I'm familiar with (as opposed to odo's) and I couldn't run that risk on raceday.

I was directly qualified to the semi (6th time), and went up from 13/46 to 14/46 as the track was becoming very dry and dusty (slippery) for my semi as the day went on. It was still fantastic, and I was going to be bumped to the main until my mechanics messed up and poured way too much fuel on the pipe and refuel time - the thermal shock stalled the engine, which then took 5 times to restart and not stall again... no main for me.

The motor is outstanding - thanks again for the superb work,

Regards,
Paul

I'm VERY glad to hear your happy with the engine Paul! The bottom end is one of the things I address when modifying the Toro Nero as it is well known to not have the bottom everyone wants or expects it to have in stock form. These engines really are top notch Racing Engines and IMO don't get the credit they deserve.... Especially after a few touches in the "right" spots :)

Good luck at your next race!

Run it until the metal pinch is gone "or at least VERY minimal when cool" and its all compression. Only then will it be at its "peak" performance

And you bringing home "another" World Record with my engines would be a very nice bonus. 3 more World Records would be icing on the cake!! :D

Unsober1 09-21-2009 06:57 PM

World Records !!!!!!

Very nice
