HPI Nitro MT2 Thread
Does anyone have one of these? They are really nice trucks. I just got mine last week used and I really like it. I just put a Crowd Pleazer on it, Moabs, on Black Rims (not sure who they're made by). But it looks sick. Right now I have the HPI .15 in it.:sneaky:. I am thinking about an electric conversion possibly (I already converted mt CEN MG10MT. In this thread we can talk about setups, hopups, etc.:):tire:

I used to have one and loved it as well.
Two peices of advice for it. 1. Get the carbon fiber radio tray, it makes a world of difference in how the car looks and handles. It also gets rid of the "toyish" plastic radio tray junk they have on it. 2. Dont get the HPI.18ss Its overpriced and lacking in performance compared to the O.S. .18 CV-R. This is the motor I had in mine and it was incredible. Trust me for $100-$120 you cant ask for anymore motor. |
Mine was fun but I couldn't keep the diffs from exploding.Shoulda had a center diff, that slipper was dreadful!

Thats an awsome looking truck!
About the diffs, I've heard that using the RS4 3 Evo+ diffs makes the truck bullet proof. I want an MT but am torn between it or the Slayer:confused: |

Here's what I've done to mine.
I haven't had any problems within the diffs, but have had more problems with the ring and pinion. I got 3 race seasons wtih the 18SS motor, it did well till it's end. The inner gears of the diffs are 100% same as the diff gears in my rs4 sport/pro |
Ring and pinion is what i meant lol. I went thru a ton of those.
|
I got one on a trade and converted it to brushless using a HAVOC 8.5. Not going for balls out power, just a steady pace. I still need rims, tires, and a body. I'll post pictures later.
|
Yea, the stock ring and pinion gears are pretty crappy metal. Anyone try the hardened steel ones? I wanted to but at $30 each for the ring gear and $15 each for the smaller pinion gear, it's kinda steep.
|
I have the "bullet proof" hardened ones on my brushless conversion. holding up well.
|
I had the 18SS kit. Loved that thing but got rid of it for some cash. Really regretted that one. Only thing I broke was the rear diff once and a rear axle, but that was it.
I just got another one from a guy on here. I am going to convert it to a nitro SCT though. Should be fun.. :sneaky: This is the project thread if you guys are interested. http://www.rcshortcourse.com/forum/s...529#post167529 |
