New to OS engines, How you doing? Got a used OS Speed XZ-B That needs a rebuild, P+S+R, what are my options here, I see Speed, Speed II, Speed III, what will fit in this block? everything else is good, bearings, crank, carb, might as well save it, Thanks, JT

Hello Toadskins,

After checking the parts list of O.S. Speed XZ-B, unfortunately it has a different Piston and Sleeve Part Number than XZ-B Speed II. It is almost a different engine through out, besides the Piston Sleeve, XZ-B Speed II has a different Crankcase, Crankshaft, and Con-Rod as well.

So, I would suggest You to try to find XZ-B Piston and Sleeve for Your engine.

Cheers..

So, found a P/S, no rod, anybody got a os part number that will work for a speed xz-b, these speed rods all look the same, with different numbers. Just want to rebuild this one time. Thanks, JT

you could try the p/s/r from the Protek Samurai.
It's a VZB Speed with XZB spec II case

nevermind, I just saw, you need the rod for a XZB, not sure what I suggested would work now.

That might work if it's an actual vzb speed rod, as those have the same part number as xzb spec 1.. are there any other variants of the vzb speed still being produced by OS for another company?

Also, is that the original samurai or v2?

The only difference between the V1 and V2 Samurai is the carb. The V2 has the 22c carbs

Has anyone tried a Drake engine as well as a Spec2 engine? Any differences in power delivery?

Hello Charles Godwin,

In my finding, OS AD21 Adam Drake Edition has a better low bottom torque delivery. Where Spec 2 seems to have a very "little" bit of lag on bottom power delivery. If You are aggressive on throttle than You will not notice the difference, but if You are smooth on Throttle then You will notice that in a specific condition. Spec 2 will give a tiny bit more top end.

Cheers..

sent them an email and were told that the b2103 will be released next year! The b2103 type S (3 port) January and the type R (multi port) February both will be released as engine only and as a pipe/engine combo.

I am having some issue with my 110% 21 xz-b spec 2. Will not hold a consistent tune. and once it gets low on fuel it cuts out. pulled carb apart everything clean. replaced front bearing, tank, fuel line, and plug. same tuning issue. The rear bearing is noisy going to replace that next. I used drakes settings as a base.... still have a tuning issue. 7mm insert and 25% byrons. any help would be appreciated thanks

Replace the rear bearing before you go any farther. It will make a big difference on how it tunes and holds an idle...I used J&T ceramics in my drake motor and what a difference. I can fire it and walk away and it’s still at a low idle
