Put an old plug in the blasted button. Then mount the tip of the plug in a dremel or the whole plug in a accu drill. Get some sandpaper or sanding pad with a high grit rate and let the button spin and hold the sandpaper/pad on the button. It will come out as new.

I’ll try n find a video of what your saying to do on YouTube, if it’s salvageable I’ll do it. It literally does look sand blasted tho. Here’s a pic I just took for reference. My other choice is just rebuild my blue head spec 2 with the new parts and drop the dlc coated crank in it with some fresh bearings (that’s probably what I’ll do) once the spec 2 is done in a couple gallons. The blue head spec 2 has been by far my favorite engine I have used. I have a few new speeds tho I haven’t used yet, a .19 an ad1 and a b2102, so whenever I get around to using those engines these will be in the back burner anyway.

U can see the spec 1 button looks normal, a little carbon and smooth. The spec 2 button and piston are just matted finish.

That is salvageable, use the highest grit sand paper, then if you choose to you can use some polish... I did this all the time in the past when i blew engines up regularly.. lol

No video needed, you just need to make the button spin so you can easy put some sandpaper against it. But the buttons in that way will still work w/o any noticeable power loss.
