Only ever have 1 engine that had factory settings anywhere. In 20+ years.

Thanks for your help guy`s, got it close, but it seams to bog after take off...lol...once i get a bit off speed, say around a hair pin and punch it it hesitates for a sec or two and then takes off again. I`m no set up tuner guy, i know the basic`s but that`s about it.

By the way, that .82mm and flush thing, my truggy won`t even start with those settings, had to go a real hour and a half in ( HSN ) just to start it, idle set at 1mm and a bit...approx.

Tomorrow i`m going to try the factory settings suggested, thanks again !!

do 3 and a half out from bottom on hsn. make ur idle .7-.8mm
lsn flush lean lsn if it wont idle... dont touch idle screw ever after its .7-.8

the hesitation and bog you are referring to is from the LSN being too lean or rich. If it's blowing a ton of smoke and blubbering it's too rich, if there's no smoke and it sounds really quiet like it wants to cut off, it's too lean. When just starting out it's difficult I know, but try and learn to tune based on your needs rather than stock settings or someone else settings. Climate, humidity, plug, track, etc... will make a huge difference in needle settings. My needle settings today may not be my needle settings next weekend.

jp2quick 07-22-2010 10:17 AM

those settings are too lean, at least for floridas climate. we are closer too bottom= 4 3/4 out
top= 2 1/2 out
race tuned.
as Brandon mentioned, you should try and learn to tune it for your needs, should also mention that this engine will give a different temp. reading from button to case which is unusual, most engines will temp. the same is these two locations or be pretty close, this engine when up to temp. you may see 270 at button, but at the case you will see 240. not sure why, I would think the case temp. is the important one, anyone else notice this ? any ideas ?

quick question, what size ball hex for adjusting the needles, Got a 2.0 and it feels like there is too much play.

Brandon Melton 07-27-2010 09:59 AM

2.0 is correct,if the ball is worn with non new edges, it can feel sloppy. Make sure you have a 2.0 and not a 5/64.

its a brand new 2.0, 2nd one i've got, I"ll use this one for alittle bit, its a proline one, so hopefully it wont round off like the last one.

Anyone know the bearing sizes for front and rear? I'm pretty sure my rear bearing is bad. thanks!
