Does anybody know what is going on with O Donnell towerhobbies has this motor listed as discontinued are they not making this motor anymore or are they just coming out with a new one. This has to be one of the best motors I have ran.

tower/hobbico split ways from O'donnell so eventually there will be no O'donnell stuff on the site other than fuel and i think plugs...

but i have two for sale, one is murnan modified if your interested. http://www.rctech.net/forum/r-c-item...1-engines.html

Just did the brake-in process yesterday. I only have one thing about this engine, fantastic! Getting a good tune was easy aswell. Way to go O'Donnell!:D

i do not know the answer to your last question, its taiwanese engine, but really good quality... break in exactly how the manual says and it will last you many gallons, ive heard of people getting 8-10+ gallons out of them.

BTW, the engine takes about 2 gallons to fully break in, so the first 2 gallons the engine is a little smoother and not as much top (still has plenty of power  ) but after it breaks in fully, its a whole other animal

That's eactly what happened...

It wa really smooth, and I was like, eeeh it's nice, then I sold it to my little buddy Zane, and he ran it some more and called me on the phone and it was makin some awesome sounds. He loves it, Im really impressed with the billet piston, that's the sweetest looking piston I've ever seen on an engine... they all should be that nice.....and ur right it takes a while, and it shouldn't be pushed early on.......Great explanation buddy....

Does anyone know will the O'Donnell gear be available anywhere else since tower is discontuning all of it? I would like to get the O'Donnell pipe and some 87t plugs.

thats a question that cant be answered as of yet. O'donnell and hobbico/tower split ways so tower blew out of the rest of the O'donnell stock. with this happening, it looks like another big step forward with products being back out to the public. ... you can run an OS P3 plug, its close to the OD 87T

I see now that Amain has removed all the O,Donnell stuff as well. That really sucks. I was going to try and pick up another one of these engines when I had the cash.

The vehicle line is a question mark at this point, based on whether or not the tooling is transferred to Steve as part of the deal. The accessories (plugs, pipes, cooling heads, etc...) will be distributed through O'Donnell Racing directly. I haven't heard if they will also be sold through large shops like amain.

Once the Tower Hobbies inventory is sold off, it's doubtful that they'll carry anything other than the fuel, which Hobbico owns 100%.

The last time I spoke to Steve, he was working on a new motor package, but it's not something that'll be ready quickly. He's going to make sure any new motor is exactly what he wants, not a combination of compromises to get it to market quickly.;)

I hope his new motor is as easy to break in and tune as the ss21 with which I am thoroughly impressed so far.

Yep

You can bet Steve is making a new engine. I bet it's gonna be a bad ass....

Just know that Steve has been making engines forever. I remember the .12 dished piston engine. I think it was one of the first engines like that If not the first...
