Default Losi Ten-T motor swap?

Is there a direct drop in engine to replace the ten-t engine? I've run out of options as the ROSS motors keep burning up and they no longer make the pull start kit.

Novarossi makes a .15 that’s a nice runner, or the Dynamite .19.

It’s an option for sure, but they need to be run warm to break them in. Traxxas’s break-in method and needle settings are completely wrong as is their fuel. The Nova or Dynamite will be plug and play without a worry in the world.

What is wrong with the traxxas fuel ? I have been running it, I do have a gallon on VP I just bought, will VP run better ? Any suggestions would be great.

Traxxas fuel has 16% oil in it. It tunes like CRAP!!! You will lean it down to get rid of the burble and snotty transition until it runs clean and right, then it’s too lean and you overhear the engine. You would likely see a HUGE difference between the PM fuel versus the TRASHAS fuel as long as the PM fuel has 10-12% oil.

A friend of mine was running Traxxas fuel and was having a nightmare of a time trying to get his 2.5R tuned properly. We filled his tank with my fuel (I custom blend mine) and within one minute his engine tuned better and even the sound of it changed. His kid was driving the truck while we wrenched on another truck and he noticed the difference in sound and how it ran without even looking at it. That’s pretty significant if you ask me.

Traxxas fuel is great for breaking in - but only for a quart. Otherwise I’d mix it down with another fuel and balance the contents so the oil is 12% or a bit less. Car engines run best on 10-12% oil. That’s just cold hard fact.

If I didn’t run custom blended fuel, I’d use blue thunder race 8% and add oil to it, Trinity monster HP, or Byron’s.
