Default 2019 Protek Samurai SO3 & R03 Engines

Whats up everyone, Protek has a new pair of Samurai engines!

Samurai S03 and R03. They look to be OS 2103-based engines.

S03 for buggy/mileage, R03 for,truggy/power. Only difference is the carb. Both are 3-port engines.

Optional LCG head available.

Specifications for S03 and R03
Displacement : 3.49cc / 0.213 cu.in.
Bore : 16.27mm/0.641in.
Stroke : 16.80mm/0.661in.
Output: 2.68ps/2.64hp/34,000r.p.m
practical rpm range: 4,000-42,000 r.p.m.
weight : 352g/12.42oz.

ill be trying one out very soon with feedback posted here. OS 2100 pipe will be paired with the S03 for my testing.

no, more like 2103 wth a Samurai-labeled head. All new carb, o-ring head button, different timing profiles.

So this will have a different timing/feel than the OS B2103 type S? As you mentioned, it sounds like they are all 3 ports. Unlike the Type R OS which is 5 port.

Sorry, I meant different timing profile than the Spec II. I haven't timed the engine out to compare it against s B2103 S03, but the S03 Protek I just broke in yesterday on my EBIS and ran tonight for club racing at Hot Rods is really smooth and feels more powerful than the B2101/Ty2 with a great mid-range pull. First outing, so it didn't get great mileage but I really like the powerband for buggy. 6.5mm carb insert, OS 2100 pipe set, 30% Flashpoint w/Klotz Techniplate/Benol added. It was over 100F during quals and engine ran really well.

Not that I’m being a jerk, but in the “Protek Samurai is Discontinued” thread, when I told everyone that I was testing a new version of the Samurai engine for AMain a few months ago and everyone said I was lying and full of BS, I hope the release of the new version will help silence all those keyboard “experts”. Sometimes people should grow up and believe what you read, instead of criticizing someone’s post.
