Default Clutch bell and pinion issue

hello, so my pinion keeps breaking free when I use the brakes and locks up the clutch bell. Is there a trick to getting it to not separate? Should I buy a 1 piece clutch bell pinion?

Are you using a GT Clutch in a Buggy? What car are you running, what clutch are you running. Usually GT Clutches with removable Pinions are for 2spd GT Cars. Well there is also 1/8 IC.

For Buggies everyone runs a one piece bell usually, like at 13-15T.

I’ve got a multi-piece clutchbell in one of my LST2s. Threaded bell and two pinions. When I assembled the clutchbell out of the package, I cleaned thoroughly with acetone all parts. Apply a little blue loctite to the threaded bell and screwed the pinions on. Using a couple sets of pliers and some small strips of leather (old belts work great); wrap outside of bell with one piece of leather, wrap the pinions themselves with the other.. I tightened the pinions one at a time - inside one first, outside second. They’ve never come loose on me.

If the clutchbell manufacturer threaded the bell the wrong way, they will come loose no matter what you do. The bell and pinions should be RH threaded.

Thanks for the info. The car is a RTR MP9 TKI4. Itís my sons first nitro car. I thought it would be best for getting started in Nitro. We have been breaking in the motor and this has slowed that down.

I will try the acetone and belts, if it comes off one more time Iíll get a one piece.

Ditch the two piece is my recommendation. One Piece Its easy, simple and will make the experience for your son that much better. Is your Main Spur and the Pinion the same pitch my chance. Also i'm not sure but your Pinion may be a bit high in tooth count, which again if you are running the stock center Diff and Spur, is not ideal.

No the two piece. How many teeth are on your removable pinion?

Ahh, ok. Thanks for the clarification. My pinion is 13 tooth. Are all one piece clutch bells the same size?
